protein in urine

A month ago i had caught an STD and it was treated, no issues. I went back in today to make sure it was gone (piss test) and i happened to ask if there was protein in my urine since i am on anavar 100mg ed for 10 weeks, plus tren 100mg Ed. About 5 years ago i had protein in my urine from tren "abuse", so I was curious.

The doctor said yes, it was 30 (ng/dl?not sure units). I googled this, and this is +1.

I asked her "was it like this a month ago when i came in" and she said it registered as trace then.

So that is alteast good news, it has not been this elevated for long. Indicating the anavar has caused it to go up so stopping it might make it go back to normal.

But anyway, what is the consenus on protein in urine? How bad is this for kidneys and how possible it means actual permanent kidney damage?

I have had kidney scares in the past (creatiine as high as 1.8, +1 protein in urine), i even had a 24 hour urine test done many years ago and my true GFR was no exceptional but the doctor said i was fine i dont need to worry about it.

I guess the positive outlook, i have been able to make negative kidney values go down in the past so they were not permanent. The bad news, i now have +1 protein in my urine again and they did not test for my Creatine and BUN so i need this done now I guess.

I have read different things on boards from "well you eat alot of protein you piss alot" which is not true, to "most athletes have protein in urine", to "your kidneys are damaged stop all AAS forever"

Thoughts?

I have been +2 protein ever since high school when I started eating lots of protein and training. It's nothing to worry about as long as other values are decent and you are not abusing the drugs.

I have seen blood work of 20+ local "bodybuilders" and every single one had at least +1 protein, even some 180lbs naturals.

myoglobin shows up in the urine on a dipstick at protein, most people who train hard are always releasing some myoglobin into the bloodstream which is excreted by the kidneys. Too much myoglobin is hard on the kidneys.

Use a condom

this is correct, but the urine in protein was not from the STD, atleast from what the doctor said and what i have read. i was hoping this may be the cause, but elevated protein in urine usually means kidney damage (from what i have researched)

just curious, have you seen any kidney specialists? your doctors have never freaked out about plus 2 protein? also, how have you creatine and BUN looked if you dont mind me asking? thanks for the reply, encouraging that I am not the only one.

Isn't this what has fucked up several people in the cross fit cult??
Doing hrs of full body training

As far as I know anavar is not kidney toxic but at that high or dose for that long I guess anything is possible

Then is kidney toxic , why the hell would you use high dose tren after knowing you have pre existing kidney issues??

High dose oral for extended periods , high dose kidney toxic drugs knowing you have kidney issues , random unprotected sex with dirty women.

Createnine and BUN have always been in range, Highest it's been is 1.39 creat, and 17 bun on a big cycle and 20-30 grams creatine per day. 275+lbs

I recently got blood work on trt and creat was 1.2 at 250lbs, they lost my urine sample so not sure if protein was lower too.

But like I've said out of many "bodybuilders" that I know, every single one had atleas 1+ protein in urine while other values are mostly ok

Protein in urine above trace should be concerning. You know this, do you really need confirmation or you really wanna hear from people that say "all body builders have protein in urine, it's fine, keep it up"

look into Lisinopril. It is an ACE inhibitor that helps prevent protein in the urine. Protein in the urine is not something you want to have long term. Eventually, it will affect you.

I have a +2 protein reading too for at least 8 years since I started being treated for high BP. Kidney specialist does not seem to concerned about this as long as things stay the same (eGFR, protein etc)

I have high microalb/creat ratio my urine but my efgr is 84. The nephrologist said it is fine. He was worried about my cholesterol though.

Yeah it happens all the time to people, at a certain concentration myoglobin starts crystallizing in the tubules and clogs everything up, kidneys shut down.

I explained above why you are getting protein in your urine, the OP didn't seem to notice...

I understand what your saying about training hard possibly making me have protein in my urine test, but not 100% clear what this means. So you are saying I should not be worried (with my protein being +1 which is above trace). Or do you believe I should be worried?

my last urinalysis i was dumping 4700 ppd of protein but yet my BUN and Creaatine levels were almost normal...my doctor thinks that a high protein diet and 25 years of weight training has made my body excellent at dumping excess protein...either that or I am on my way to kidney failure...

check my thread about rhabdomyolisys. it is exactly that (tons of myoglobin in bloodstream)..

Same situation here. Spilled 4 grams in 24hr Test yet everything else was ok. Egfr was in the 90s. I have had foamy urine for probably 20 years and never thought something was wrong, I thought everyone peed like that. Completely clueless. Never had high blood pressure either. All my bloodwork is spot on too, nephrologist had no explanation and wanted me to go for biopsy which I can’t do right now because of all the other surgeries I had/ am having recently (rotator cuff, tricep, etc).

Did your doc want a biopsy ? What’s the verdict with this? Will run another 24hr in the spring to see if my spill # improved.
