I have always made sureto try to take in at least 1.5 grams per lb of bodyweight. Is this enough or not for loosing fat and keeping gains? I have heard some say go to 2 grams and others say drop back to 1 gram per lb.

everyones different dude, hows it been working for you. have you been holding your size while losing bodyfat at 1.5 ? its a good number to start with then adjust from there

unless your preparing for a show at the moment, id say just eat as much as youd like to. in my own opinion, your not going to get fat from eating protein...the thermic effect is too high and the turnover ratio to glucose is too low... you might store some as fat, but hey, you should still have a net fat loss at the end of the day if your dieting correctly, so extra protein cant hurt....cuz muscle is the key to metabolism.

id say it should be somewhat based on the other ratios of your macronutrients in your diet. If you are generally going low carb, and higher fat, then i would say bump your protein up higher than usual, but if you have a decent amount of carbs present, then your protein doesnt need to be as high. If you cycle carbs, i would say cycle the protein like this with the carbs as well.

I would say dont go overboard on the protein though, as excess calories are excess calories. I personally think that too much protein wont make you 'fat' unlike too much carbs/fat, but eating excess amounts can hold you back a bit in terms of your goals. Like its discussed in the other thread about protein intake and amounts, I think timing and quality of your protein intake/sources is just as important as how much you consume.
