Protein powder cost.. wtf?! LOL

I have bough from TrueNutrition whey back (see what I did there?) since they were TrueProtein in 2004. I just reordered... $22.95/pound AFTER the subscription discount or it would've been $27/lb. Used a discount code and in the end 18lbs cold filtrated whey was $353. That's crazy. I use 2 scoops pre workout and maybe 2 more before bed. At this point blending chicken would be more cost effective.

I guess I got sticker shock.

Optimum Nutrition Whey is about $12 a lb at Costco. Last time I grabbed some it was on sale at under $10 a lb. Tastes great and digests fine. No complaints.

I like whey shakes since I cut way back on food... But I wont pay crazy prices for it, not worth it...
I do find deals though (Muscle & Strength, DPS, etc) and when their are sales Ill buy some to last a while... I try to never pay more than 10.00 a lb.
Im not too picky on what I get (blends, etc) but I do look first for ISO.

I never heard of this brand, but I found it a "Ocean State Job Lot" (discount store) - $15.00 for 2 lbs (40 servings)
(I bought a few of 'em).

I haven’t tried it but NutriCost has cheap isolate. I get other stuff there but not the protein. That’s divorce lawyer money.

I think everyone has gone wild on the prices. DPS is good if you shop around. Same with CostCo/Sams.

LOL what? No one is arguing that protein prices have gone up...but its universal, not just TP.
This statement shows me you havent been paying attention to the actual offering of TP.

I say this as someone who buys TP and other brands, but the guys here looking for "deals" are going to be in trouble.
Whey protein has GLOBALLY gone up in price, not just TP. So if you find some shit blend or too good to be true brand, thats exactly what it is.
I, along with everyone, want to save money. But If the price isn't somewhat expensive, i wouldnt trust it. Drink lesss shakes then. You can find 3rd party protein testing all the fuckin time and they consistently find brands cutting corners, using weird fillers, exaggerated labels, etc. TP's market isnt some poor college student looking for cheap protein sources, it's guy who've been in the game who are looking for an ultra filtered, accurately dosed protein, without all the shit in it. If you cant afford it, you cant afford it. This is like people bitching about Mast and Primo being expensive. Well...yeah, its expensive everywhere. If you see a vial for $25 i will guarantee you its NOT what it says it is. Well to supply and demand.

Dymatize Gourmet Chocolate is all I use, that shit might as well be chocolate milk, that shit is crack.. My wife uses it to make protein ice cream, protein cup cakes, protein pancakes etc..

I think he meant to say “TN” talking about True Nutrition and got confused because it used to be called “True Protein” back in the day so he said “TP”..

Also, I agree with you. $30 +/- a lb for protein is wild, for that I blend a Wagyu steak

I’m sure TN has great quality, I haven’t used them in a few years because honestly the taste was terrible to me.. I’m paying around $18/lb for the Dymatize and as stated above, that shit is crack chocolate milk, if they keep raising the price I might just have to pay it because I haven’t found anything that tastes even 50% as good, I’ve always had to literally chug my shakes because they’ve all tasted like shit except with Dymatize..

Maybe not the best quality, but animal brownie batter on Amazon is $56 for 5lb and it makes the best protein pudding I ever had. Just enough water to make it pudding and I could eat it every single meal dipping rice cakes and peanut butter in it.
