Protein powder cost.. wtf?! LOL

When I find something that I really like the taste of and it's isolate protein I buy it and nutricost salted caramel isolate powder is my go to now.
73 bucks for 5 lbs of isolate isn't awfully bad.
This has been my go to lately.

I use Sports Research Whey Isolate Dutch Chocolate. I paid $89.95 on January 3 for a 5lb bag. I just got on Amazon a little while ago and decided to check the price. Its marked down to $62.97 for the same 5lb bag right now. WTF. Wish I wasn't about out a few days ago and had to order some. I get it overnight. Only a few miles from the Amazon warehouse has its advantages. Needless to say I just ordered "several" more bags. Never seen it that cheap. Can't pass up.

Saw costco had optimum on sale for the next couple weeks for $54 for 5.6 lb

I cut all powder last year i think and i will never go back

1kg turkey mince -500 g beef mince bulk

1kg cod , 500g chicken mince cut

Sweetener in powder was also fuck up my stomach

Yeah I’ve stocked up off this. Very hard to beat price wise $/Lb, and optimum has always been solid for me (digest it well).

I have about a years supply of protein powder in my garage..... not that i am a hoarder.

You should see the price of Whey in Thailand. Insane prices. And getting whey isolate without added concentrate is hard to find. Makes me want to start my own brand here. Crazy expensive. Be lucky you have Costco/Amazon in the States

First rule of capitalism: companies will charge whatever people will pay for it...if everyone stopped buying protein powder for 6 months the price would drop dramatically...
But then they would cut back on production lay people off as less quantity was needed till the surplus in the warehouses were lowered hence driving price back up.....first law of capitalism. Supply and demand

Exactly. People love to bash capitalism but it's responsible for most of the goods and services we have today. There's probably hundreds of companies competing for market share trying to sell as much protein as possible. This helps keep prices reasonable.

CEO’s and pro athletes are overpaid for what they do. Maybe not based on market, but market is not actual reality, a lot of manipulation
Don't buy from those companies, and stop watching supporting the pro sports you think are overpaid. I know I have. If people think they are overpaid then stop contributing to their pay. You yourself may already being doing this but the number of fools I hear complain while on their new iphone drinking out of their stanely while shopping for some idiotic labebe or whatever the current idiot desire is these days.

Basically asserting that “Americans are clueless in economics”, while positioning yourself as educated on the subject because you took a single class as an elective in high school is comical at best.

I took Spanish as an elective in high school, so i guess that makes me a subject matter expert on the language by similar logic?

Most people are financially and economically clueless—the country or region they’re from isn’t the limiting factor there
Well, in the land of the blind the one eyed man is king, so.....

Much like at Walmart I appear to be, in a relative sense, Mr. Olympia. lol

Why would they think loans should be paid back when their tax dollars are used time and again to bail out companies worth billions of dollars who have CEOs with golden parachutes and guaranteed lottery tickets never having to pay back their debts?

Where do you think they get crazy ideas from?
Well, and I'm in this boat myself, BECAUSE WE FREAKING AGREED TO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The actions of anyone else, .gov or otherwise, is IRRELEVANT!!

"Jimmy's parents don't make him clean up his room, why should I?!?!?!?!"
You see how that sounds?

This lol.

Sure, you can erase the majority of the context.

You remember paycheck protection (PPP) loans? About a trillion dollars in tax money. Utterly abused by businesses and a whole of clearly not small businesses. That "loan" money was given away and never paid back. The company I worked for took a million. Then laid off ten people.

People see this and think "wheres my free sh*t? why am I obligated to pay back my debts?"

Am I saying it's right? Am I saying this should be everyone's mentality?

Equating trillions in tax dollars everyone paid that were literally given away and never paid back to jimmy cleaning his room is some handwavy nonsense.

I guess we should all just accept what everyone else does, as well as the government, and be good citizens?

Im not here as an arbiter in a debate I could care less about. I'm pointing out that the people making a lot of noise arent completely in the wrong nor should they all be lumped together because theres as many people with their stuff together as people with a credit score of 300 saying the same thing.

I dont know what boat you're in because I have no "debt". I literally dont have a horse in this race. But when I see the commentary and look into it and then look around, it seems to me we're spiraling in an undesirable direction but again...It largely doesnt and wont affect me in way that really inconveniences me.

Hopefully everyone in that boat can come to an understanding. I just sit back and watch the circus.

I'd agree HAD the .gov LOANED OUR MONEY to those businesses, AND those businesses had, once again for those in back, AGREED TO PAY THEM BACK!!!

If you can't see the difference and wish to continue to frame it as "But they didn't have too, and they are far worse" argument then you win! Congrats.

Those businesses originally agreed to repay the loans. I understand that "forgiveness" was built into the loan and became grants if stipulations were met. However, a lot, I wont say majority because I havent looked into the details, clearly did not meet the obligations. It also brings into the question the "why" those loans which used tax payer money were built that way to begin with.

If you dont like that example the taxpayer ate a huge chunk on the chrysler bailout.

People get emotional about this. If you take umbrage with people not taking responsibility, remember every LLC, S-corp, and fortune 500 company are run by people. Just use the same standard.

Like I said, all my just shy of 100k in student loans are paid off. My cars are bought with cash. My bank accounts and retirement just keep going up. I dont have a horse in this race. If congress decided to wave the pen and forgive student loans after I paid mine off, you wouldnt hear my complain. If that happened, It would benefit the economy in a huge way and is no different to any other handout the government gives out.

Im not trying to change anyones opinion on the matter. It doesnt affect me this way or that way. It is what it is.

I don’t want to get too off topic but I’ll just say this:

I’ve seen multiple companies abuse the PPP program to get loans that were forgiven, and the money of these loans was used to pay bonuses to doctors and board members who were already clearing $1m/year on the salary. They didn’t use the loans for the company like many thought it would be used for. it went right in their pocket, and they did it through a dividend payment on their k1 so they pay even less taxes on it

Any company with a decent lawyer and accountant were doing this during the PPP. It was basically free money. The fraud with PPP ran rampant, one of the dumbest most poorly thought out programs in recent memory

If they forgive everyone's student loans, I'd like to advocate to have my car loan forgiven too. That $350 a month could go towards food, gas, rent, and maybe I could up my dose of gh.
