Protein
What's the rule of thumb for BBr protein & carb intake? x/gms per lb of body weight.
Sorry for asking a very old question, but depending on what resource I'm looking at the answers vary. So I look to you guys once again for the right answer! I'm going to have a shirt made that reads "Body by P.B.!" LOL

I'm no bodybuilder
I play it by feel. If I'm not recovering as fast as I would like to from my workouts I up my protein intake. As far as carbs that depends on my energy levels. If I'm dragging ass and can't make it thru a workout I eat more. It sounds simple but I don't have time to sit down and calculate this shit out to the gram. You should shoot for about 1.5grm protein/lb of bodyweight. Make sure your carbs come from clean sources like fruits and vegies. Stay away from alot of junk food and it will help keep the bloat down. Fats fro me are about 30% of my cals. PB

As PB said 1.5g/lb is a good intake level; however, I like to stay around 2g/lb if possible, especially when dieting to keep your body out of the catabolic state that it fights to be in on a cutting phase, regardless of the amt of gear that you are on. So definately try to stay on 2g/lb of bodyweight when dieting.

Take care,

Cold Fusion

Protein 2g per lbs, no more than 40g per meal. Have went as high as 2.5g when on cycle. Carbs from potatos, yams, brown rice..... approxiamtly 1g per lbs, unless cutting then reduce to .5g per lbs.

hope this helps

Well, the 40g per meal is somewhat untrue if you are on gear, t3, ginger root etc. Think about it for a second. If you have a BBer weighing 250lbs he would have to consume 500g of protein per day. If he could only injest 40g per sitting he would have to have 13 meals per day to reach that level, and that is not feasible. Most heavy weight bodybuilders that I know shoot for 80g per setting so spread over 6 meals totalling 480g, give or take.

The amount of protein that one can assimilate per meal is a myth. It all depends on genetics, if you are on gear and how much gear you are on, on what the protein consists off, on the amount of digestive enzyme supplements taken with the meal, etc, etc.

Generally, I always say aim for as close to 500g per day as possible. The more the better, if you create the right environment for absorbtion - see the points above.
And drink TONS of water so your kidneys can handle that amount of protein. As well, use lots of liver cleansers, because protein will get the liver working overtime as well, and it's allready stressed from the gear.
