Hey bro, they cant just come kick in the door. Her word is not enough
for a judge to issue a search warrant. But they will open an investigation
and drive by your house to check you out. That could last from 3-6 months.
On the other hand cops are cops. They might just lie and tell the judge
whatever to get a search warrant. ( it happens )

if the gear is for personal use you should be o.k., I really dont think they will kick your door in or even show up and knock for something like this. Now with that being said we are in a whole new ball game with this patriot act being passed, they can pretty much tapp you phone for no reason and have a lot more leverage in court to invaide your rights... If she went to the cops and told them that you were sellin gear and were a drug dealer then they might look into you chances are they wont tap your phone but do a trash pick up or put a low level survalence on you.. You are dong the right thing by cleanin house, if you do get a knock, say nothin and lawyer up!

I was livin with my dad a few years ago and his ex wife called the cops and said we were runnin a meth lab in our house, we were not and dont even do any drugs or drink... well the swat team broke down the door with full gear on and ak 47's and raided our house one night, I was not home but my dad was, they managed to find some illegal fire works! they tore the house apart and just left it in pieces, and left with their tails between their legs... wow I can see the headlines in the paper MAJOR ILLEGAL FIREWORK BUST yielded 26 black cats and 33 bottle rockets! haha ya my old man filled a suit and got some cash out of it but nothing substantial (a few grand i think)

If you do have to clear things up clear them up real well, I know I am based in a different country to you but cops are cops and they will use anything against you, watch your paper trails etc, phone bills itemised, bank statements, money transactions and recepts of them, fingerprints on everything, I am not making you paranoid just speaking from personal experience here, they will go through your house with a fine comb. If you are clean eveyrwhere should they search your house, you should not get any hassle what so ever, because who needs this kinda hasle anyways.

The police aren't going to bust down your door. For them to come into your house they have to get a warrant and there is no way they are going to go in front judge and say that the basis for the warrant is a tip from an estranged ex-girlfriend. And if they were that stupid the judge wouldn't issue it. I wouldn't go crazy over it. If you live in a small town then they might watch you for a bit but if you live in a decent size city they arent going to waste their time

Hey bro, keep the house clean for a while, don't get all paraniod and shit but when you go places you would normally on a day to day basis just take some unusual detours to get there. They may follow you and check into things but highly unlikely. it pays to be safe rather than sorry. If you livre in OZ I'd move house and don't tell anyone where you went. Once a year here they run a program called Operation Noah. They encourage people to report suspicious activity form next door etc. They then act on the intell they recieve and start kicking down doors, with full warrants etc. You have neighbors ratting on each other cause they have a grudge, No evidence required for the warrant other than an "anynomous tip". Now that sucks the big dong!!

There were new laws past in some states that the police dont need a warrent to enter your house. If they drive by and witness what they would consider susicious activity around your home they could enter. I forgot the exact details of the law, but I remember it being on the news. It is not every state.

Make sure there is nothing in your house or car. They WILL check you car as well as house. If you have nothing then it is her word against yours. Just say your ex was mad because you broke up and made up the story to harass you. You shouldn't have anything to worry about. Just make sure there is nothing in your house or car in case they get a search warrant.

One more thing, if the police can't get a search warrant they may come asking if they can look around. Tell them NO! Many people say ok because they think if they say no it will look like they are hiding something. Then they are screwed if the police find anything. If they don't have a search warrant don't let them in, there is nothing they can do. Just tell them they are welcome to come in if they have a search warrant, otherwise you would rather they didn't. They will go away.

I would turn up at the cop shop explain the situation find out what she has told them and what it is they plan to do get it over with .You have rights they are entitled to help by turning up you may be able to make her look like a nutter .If its made up they may give her a little about harrasment.Its better than sitting back and worrying about nothing.Mind you I can think of reasons why it would be better to phone them.
