Love the pullover machine, my gym has the hammer strength one

I also use it for chest, I stand behind it and kind of do a close grip press to target my inner upper chest area... works amazing and I've seen a few people copy me

What are they called? Do you connect them to a pulley or free weights somehow?

Yes, the plate loading pullover (which has achieved almost mythological status, deserved or not), the plate loading biceps/ triceps combo machine (I know the man who purchased the first one, a lawyer, it now resides in a high school gymnasium . . . I never got a chance to see it, could have but never did), and the leg extension machine are probably the best for their class for function machines produced.

What I don't understand is how the almost 50 year old pieces of Nautilus have a better "groove" than 90% of most pieces manufactured today. Jones was clearly way ahead of his time. Not surprising his son started Hammer Strength.

Fingers crossed I’ve just bought at a decent price a hammer strength pullover machine. I have never had the opportunity to use one frequently enough to see if there is any benefit to it. No idea where it’s going to go because I’m tapped on space. Anyone still use the pullover machine?

Fucking love them, don’t have access to one here and was literally bitching about it like 2 weeks ago.

Excellent for triceps as well. I was always a rope man, but these give my triceps better activation!

the groove you're talking about is the Nautilus cam. The whole idea with the cam is supposed to provide a resistance curve more closely mimicked the human body's natural strength curve. An example of this would be a DB curl and machine curl. On a DB curl, most of the tension is lessened as you near the completion of the rep, usually after your arm is at 90 degrees. On a machine curl that utilizes a cam system, the tension, in theory should be more even and maintained throughout the whole movement (unlike the DB curl where the tension drops off).
