QUESTION ABOUT TRT AND INSURANCE

My primary care physician referred me to an Endocrinologist in reference to my low testosterone levels (156). In the meantime the primary care physician prescribed me Androgel to help get me started I guess. He said that it might take awhile for me to get an appointment with the endo. Surprisingly though the Endo had a cancellation and can see me tomorrow afternoon. My problem is that I already filled the prescription for the Androgel a couple of days a ago. What if the Endo prescribes injections? Will insurance cover the injections or possibly deny them bcause I already filled the Androgel?

We can only speculate. Why don't you call the insurance company and ask them?

Either way, you can always wait until you have used the Androgel and then switch to injections. Doesn't seem like there should be a problem with that.

You or your Endro's nurse will call your provider and let them know your switching to injection and you need to cancel out Your Androgel prescription~ The Nurse then faxes over Your new Prescription and you probably will have to wait out the amount you have on hand ~ done on that end

There might be other scenarios ~ thats the process I went through.

If your insurance covers you, this should be acceptable as long as the script isnt for the exact same thing you just had filled. Even a change in dosage makes it different.
