Question for CPT'S

How do you like it? The reason I ask is I'm looking for a bit of a career change. I burnt out working two jobs and dealing with the politics in my work place. I know there are a lot of CPT's out there just curious if it would be a good career move and what not etc. What's the best way to get established? I'm just asking cause I know some guys here do that for a living and I would just like to know the best way to get my foot in the door.

Depends where you live. Where I live..even at Golds...you will starve. When you are on the floor (doing nothing) it's minimum wage unless you are with a client and then it's only about 17/hr.

What about branching off and doin your own thing?

My stepfather has been a trainer at a variety of different levels most of his adult life. A couple years ago he opened his own functional training gym. Weights, indoor track, obstacle course, sleds, tires...you get the picture. They are doing well..growing all the time. They offer personal training there as well. I believe they only charge about 30/hr. Our area has way too many gyms for the size of the valley so it's tough to make a living solely being a trainer....but that's here. I know the Seattle area is higher.
