Question on Gatorade

I drink anywhere between 2 and 3 qts a day along with about a qt or so of Crystal Light, I'm being told that drinking this much Gatorade is not good for the body, is there any truth to this?
 
I think gatorade is the most over rated shit there is, and yeah its nothing but sugar and water. Your better drinking waterr and eating food. Only time I'd consider one is Post workout. oh yeah, and you wanna know the worst thing that'll fuck up your teeth? you got it, Gatorade, something in it will destroy your teeth, my dentist said it was the worst thing to drink ever for your teeth

citric acid. Gatorade is: sugar, water, artificial flavor, potassium, and sodium. Why on earth would you drink 3 qts of it?
 
That's a looooooooot of sugar going down your throat everyday! Are you hoping to make some good gains while swallowing that much sugar? (meaning can you see any result from the gym while filling yourself up with that much sugar?)
 
I have 1 1/2 scoops of gatorade with liquid aminos poured in after my workouts, but thats it. Gatorade is about as nutritionally sound as kool-aid.
 
Thats funny.

I mix my liquid aminos with about 4 ounces of koolaid. That is the only drink i have with sugar in it. ;)
 
If I'm leaning down as well as on low carb days and I feel my blood sugar levels are starting to drop to the point of getting light headed then I will chew a couple glucose tabs. If I still need a little more then I'll also drink a gatorade with it.
 
It contains sugar? I guess if you consider high fructose corn syrup sugar. Gatorade is complete junk. All sugar type beverages made in the US are junk thanks to the tariff and quota on sugar. Buy Mexican.
 
I sometimes have one post workout and even then I just use the kid size ones. Great way to get a small amount of fast acting carbs before you get home and eat a real meal. Other than that, yeah I agree, it is really overrated.
 
Hey guys, thanks for all the help. The reason I drink it is it is about the only drink that will quench my thirst, I work carpentry/construction for the DoD and we get the gatorade free. I do sip on it at the gym and drink some post w/o. Just hope I'm not drinking too much.
 
Hey Stump, you should try out those cystal light electrolite drink mix packets. It will help keep you hydrated, without all the sugar.

Isnt aspartame worse for you overall than sugar?

one causes diabeties the other brain tumours?
 
Not sure what your current goals are, But I do know if you reserved all those carbs for training time and replacing the carbs that you're now slamming during the day with additional Omega 3's you will look and feel a lot better.

Plus by keeping your glucose stores somewhat depleted outside of your training window, when you don't really need all the glucose when you do consume carbs (training time) your body (muscles) will soak them up much more effeciently. Carbs all day just loads up your liver resulting in uncontrolled glucose release all day.

Try it for a month..
 
You mean you guys don't believe those gatorade ads on tv with scientists in the lab coats holding the clipboards gathering all the data on athletic performance and how they can improve upon their glorified kool-aid?
