im really wanting to do something different, right now im working in IT and hating it. Im wondering what kind of certifications are good to get started with and what all is usually required to get job. Also, what is a range of salary that i can expect, money isnt everything, but i need to make a decent wage to pay my current bills. like even $500/week netpay would do.

Anything else that you think is important, please let me know. om planning on going back to school and im thinking the schedule would be more flexible training.

Thanks,
Todd

It's a good field to get into, but you have to have a few characteristics to survive. If you aren't afraid to approach people and help them out of nowhere. You also have to be able to sell yourself and your abilities. If you can't do that you'll starve.
I have 20 trainers working below me right now. Most have college degrees and excellent certifications, like ACSM,NSCA, and ACE. Unfortunately that's not enough, being able to communicate with prospects is number one.
I would suggest you try to get ACE, or NASM certified those are good ones for someone who doesn't have SPorts Med. Education.
ALso, I would try working part time at it for awhile and make sure it's rigth for you and that you can make a living doing it full time.
PM me, I know a lot of Fitness Directors around the country, maybe I can help you find a gym.
Joe
