After my ALT wavering a little over the past 6 months, my levels have once again increased following a 12 week cycle of test/masteron. (masteron for the first 8 weeks). i have been off for 5 weeks now.

My results came back today for ALT at 150.
my ALT back in June this year was 210 following a test/eq cycle, but then dropped to 75, improving substantially within 2 months. High end of normal for ALT is 59 (i think).

My AST was at 190 this time too, where as previously it has only been high normal. ( i think normal for this is 130). are these numbers seen often with AAS use?

Like i said, in the past my levels have improved to near normal level over time, but last time my AST wasn't raised as high. Is there anyone in the know who can voice their opinion? or anybody or has had similar results and had them improve whilst being off cycle recovering?

i know doctors understand little of bodybuilding and can be niave on the subject. he didnt know what masteron was....

Any feedback would be much appreciated, thanks.

I am almost 4 months from my last cycle of Test and EQ. Just had my bloods done and my ALT is 22 range is 0-44, my AST is 18 range is 0-40. Not sure where you are getting your normal numbers from, but my paperwork shows different. Maybe different type of testing? Anyway, I don't think you levels should be that screwed just from Test and EQ. I have never used Mast, so I don't know.

My appologies - the 190 reading was in ALP - alkaline phosphatase.
The reference range for this is 30 -120.

the reference range for ALT is 7 - 56, at least in the test i had.

Are you running a cycle now?

If not, There could be several thing's that can cause Elevated ALK Phos.
Are you now or have you taken any glucocorticoids drugs such as Prednisone or hydrocortisone? Or any Anti seizure medicine?

Insulin Resistance, Fatty liver or possible Gallbladder issues(Gall stones) would be first things To look into.

Directly, Androgens in physiological doses shouldn't alter ALP, with Supraphysiological doses, Yes.

Thanks for the help mate.

No pal, off cycle at the moment have been for 5 weeks an dont intend to go back on till next year... Providing im healthy at the time.

As for the meds uve asked about, no, havnt ever taken any of those. However, insulin resistance could play a role as im on peps atm - ghrp2 + cjcw/o dac.

Also for the record, creatine ethyl ester has shot my kidney values through the roof in the past. Would this be likely to effect liver test? Again, thanks for your input mate, dont leave me worried! :)

ALT and AST are released in the blood from resistance training (mainly AST but also some ALT). ALT has a halflife of 48 hours, AST has a halflife of 24 hours.

While this might not be enough to explain elevations as high as yours, make sure you take this into account and don't train for 3-4 days before testing.

FYI, a liver not under stress should be under 30 on both AST and ALT.

As kaladryn said when we train we release a lot of AST and ALT so getting a blood draw near training they should be elevated also a high protein diet raises them again not sure if they should be that elevated

In addition to liver values being raised with training, have you been on any NSAIDs? As they can elevate liver values.

If you had had any recent infections and your body has had an immune system response you can have elevated liver enzymes and hypothyroidism typically causes elevated liver enzymes.

yeah, before you get all crazy and paranoid, take a good 3 day break from training before you get them redone. Also, 600mg of r-ala a day will do wonders as well.

No, i dont know what NSAIDs are? Well i dont think ive read about them before at least. The only thing i am taking right now is peptides, and just finishing nolvadex, clomid and arimidex

They are a type of painkiller. Like ibuprofen

NSAIDs are just pain relievers (Aspirin, Acetaminophen....). Nolvadex and Clomid can affect liver enzyme values.

Here is information on Clomid: Clomid Official FDA information, side effects and uses.

and Nolvadex: Tamoxifen (Nolvadex) Side Effects, Dosing, Drug Interactions - MedicineNet

Do you get right ribside pain? Could be gallstones blocking excretion..blocks the common bile duct too which stresses the liver and pancreas.

I had raised levels as well and I had to go see a specialist. Before I got my blood work done i didn't train or really eat much for 3 months but 2 wks before my blood work I started training again and increased protein and my levels spiked. I had to get a liver biopsy done and nothing was found wrong. They thought I was still on AAS, but I haven't taken anything for months, not even a multi-vitamin. I think the heavy training and increase in protein caused the spike.

These are excellent responses! This is why ProM is the best board on the net.

Have you had the flu recently? Have you traveled to another country or part of whatever country you live in now? Do you take a lot of Tylenol? Are you on any cholesterol-lowering medications? Have you taken medication for a fungal infection (toe fungus or similar - medications like Lamisil)

Your doctor should have had a checklist for you that covered almost all of these.

Like other users said, DON'T train for 2-4 days before having hepatic bloodwork done. I once got turned down for a life insurance policy because I'd had the flu and dosed up good on the Tylenol Cold and Flu.

Rule out dangerous things first like hep A or B, etc, or possible other liver disease (cancer, cirrhosis, fatty liver disease, etc. not trying to scare you here), and then pinpoint your problem from there.

Again, just read this thread and follow through with the suggestions and then with your doc. There's a reason. You just need to pinpoint it.

All alot of great feed back here guys, thanks i really appreciate it. As for the questions/advice...

No to any kind of pain killers, not even got paracetamol in the house.

No abdominal pain or pain around the ribs whatsoever.

My next blood draw and test i will be fasted and i womt train for 3 days prior.

@ouch that hurts - yes i will be having a liver scan at some point (waiting on a letter) and i will discuss this at the time.

Having a read through it seems like clomid could have an effect. Its weird cus last time i had high liver results was when i had come off the cycle rather than when i was on... Human body can be hard to understand sometimes

Havnt been abroad for 5 months. Not on any cholesterol meds. Only tabs i take along with vitamins are pct ancillaries which i will be discontinuing in a couple of days

Okay to anybody thats interested or can help...

Ive just come back from my scan and she said she could see gallstones. I have yet to talk to my doctor about this but can you guys offer any advice in reaponse to this or have any personal experience or knowledge of gallstones?

Thanks in advance guys
