Raw Milk over processed Milk

k i got a question about this.

is there any difference between raw milk fat free w 6 g protien per serving or whole raw milk which has 8 or 9 g protien per serving. is the fat in it good for u? 6g of protien for the fat free raw milk seemed kinda low, but it is a few bucks cheaper. for a quart of raw whole milk the cheapest ive seen is 9 bucks....crazy....i dont get it, u do LESS to the milk and u charge MORE....smh...

Yes the milk fat in raw milk is very nutritious. As for the price difference, that is to account for farming practices and the way the animals are raised, not so much with how much the milk is processed.

I love milk. Need to check out my raw options. Farm fresh produce and goods are very popular where I'm at. Shouldn't be hard to get my hands on some... Thanks for everyone's input!

Raw milk is illegal in some states due to the pasteurization. Raw milk is basically just strained to get the trash out. That's it. No heating nothing. There is both good and bad bacteria still in the milk.

Milk that you buy in the grocery store has all "bad" bacteria removed. I've drank raw milk since I was a kid. (grown up farming).

Be careful, some people get very sick because there body has never had certain bacteria in it (from the milk).

Concerning the cost, it's expensive because the demand is not high. Similar to organic products. In general population, most people don't care.

If the animals are healthy and raised properly then why would there be "bad" bacteria in the first place?

There is bad bacteria on everything. For example, picture not washing your hands and then eating. You might not get sick, where someone else could. Look at raw chicken. You can place raw chicken on a counter and then rub bread on the counter. Will you get salmonella? I don't know.

Concerning healthy animals. There is different factors of "healthy". I've seen cows with abscesses the size of a basketball processed and labelled grade A meat. Same with other animals.

When I refer to sick from raw milk, it's nothing major. Upset stomach, maybe vomiting.

In my 30+ years farming I've only known two people to get sick from raw milk.

That is true.. There is bad bacteria everywhere.. But, farmers who sell raw milk generally have much lower bacteria counts than pasteurized milk.. This is do to cleaner and healthier environments for cows.. Raw milk farmers also know they have to be more diligent about sanitation due to the inability to pasteurize germs.
