Recently Diagnosed with Prostrate Cancer

@bench529 I feel for you man.
My younger brother was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma and has been undergoing treatment. He's been a trooper and his numbers have improved dramatically. Get the best professional care you can find and grind through it!

Its been a few rough weeks. .... They will chemicaly castrate you for up to 2 years. To me that would be the hardest part. ....
Hey Brother,

VERY sorry to hear about this diagnosis. You've got a lot of support here as you are seeing! My father died of prostate cancer - It was the last round of chemo that got him, actually - long story...

As has been alluded to, opinions are mixed as far as the causative role of testosterone in prostate cancer and chemical castration / androgen deprivation therapy is controversial.

This article (and the references cited therein) might be of value to you and / or perhaps a second opinion about the chemical castration:

Thanks for sharing, even though I need more time to read it and understand it 🤭 so with that in mind, could deca be a good anabolic to use while been treated?

Hang in there push through you got this. MM

Before you get it removed..maybe have a consult with this guy..he is globally known as the best prostate cancer specialist in the world and he won’t even work with you if you removed it..a lot of info people don’t even consider

I'm in no way qualified to give medical advice (but I do highly suggest trying to make anything remotely close to a final medical decision based on internet opinions), so pretty much regardless of the question, my take is to talk to you doctor.

[Plus, I don't know what you mean by "being treated," exactly. If you mean using nandrolone when one has decided that androgen deprivation is the way to go, that wouldn't be my first inclination, but again, I'm no expert here.]

I meant, when you are going through cancer treatment, so just in theory, what would you use,? And thank very much for your response, I highly appreciate it!

Praying for you man. Lots of aggressive prostate cancer in my family.

Damn bro sorry to hear the news, sending prayers your way🙏

@bench529 Sorry to hear this! I would get a second opinion from a major cutting edge cancer center, regarding treatment. In the past I've mentioned Memorial Sloan Kettering in NY and UCSF in San Francisco.

I've told this story before, but I had an older customer who had prostate cancer. he went to Stanford and they got him 2 years past what they had predicted. I don't recall the initial time line. When Stanford told him there was nothing more they could do, he went to UCSF. I don't know what protocol or experimental treatment he may have done, but he wound up living another 7 years!! Best of luck with this!

Sorry to hear this man, you’ll be in my thoughts. I know it’s easier said than done, but I would try and take things day by day and not focus on possible scenarios that may or may not occur. Thinking about the what if’s is a recipe for anxiety and you have enough on your plate. The encouraging thing that I read about you is how consistent you have been with your training, which lets me know you are ready for the battle that is ahead of you. You’ve got this brother - keep us updated.

Yes. Absolutely. Second and perhaps a third opinion if need be. It’s all about options.

OT . . . every doctor of mine, not that there are that many, that is not a GP, I go to UCSF for. Same for my wife. World class.

Yes, I suspected you meant cancer treatment and specifically prostate cancer treatment, but there are various aspects to prostate cancer treatment. On the one hand, someone might have a prostatectomy. On the other hand, radioactive treatment of one sort or another. The former wouldn't typically happen with androgen deprivation (give no metastasis), I would imagine, but the latter could. So each person's answer to your question will depend on which cancer treatment strategies are being employed. FYI, r.e. options when it comes to prostate cancer treatment:

Obviously, I'm guessing you're asking me this question out of pure curiosity and/or so you can glean information in your own decision-making process (or to pass along to someone else). I'm trying to help you become better *informed,* in case you or someone you know does indeed have prostate cancer. My personal answer as to whether I would or wouldn't use a particular AAS during "cancer treatment" is pretty much useless info. strategically for *you* without more context, and could even be harmful if you were to take that apply *my* answer in my context to you or someone else in a different circumstance. (And it will without a doubt be a different circumstance, no matter what, as it would be a different person, older, younger, with different responses to AAS, etc., even if the treatments were essentially exactly the same).

Heck, you've not even delineated if you talking about using nandrolone alone or in combo with test, as my post initially was related to androgen deprivation, i.e., testosterone ablation? Some folks got along great with nandrolone alone and others don't?

Most important really, man, is that I'm NOT an authority in this area and have no business (IMO) giving specific advice. (Note, I only suggested the OP better inform himself - I didn't try to tell him what he should do specifically.) I will say that I very much caution folks in gathering personal medical advice answers via social media, discussion boards, PM's, DM's, etc., from someone / people who may not be truly qualified and almost aren't in the position (online) to gather the requisite info. via such a medium. It's done all the time and there are oodles of folks offering pseudo-medical advice, but there is something to say for the fact that for many medical practitioners, it's actually illegal to prescribe treatments without seeing a person at least once is person.

Anyhow, sorry I can't be of more help. Maybe reading that article I posted in my earlier responses, or using scholar.google.com (keywords: nandrolone, cancer) might help you out. Also, refining your question (in the context of which prostate cancer treatment strategy) could help you narrow things down a bit.

So much to digest. Just want it gone and done. Ready to get it over and start recovering . A friend of mine who is a radiologist had his done at the same place ( Rush in Chicago). Teaching hospital associated with MD Anderson out of Dallas. In the mean time I will keep training, coaching and playing pickle ball. I appreciate all the positive vibe and prayers. . We are all a different breed than the average guy. Being out of the gym is tough.

Get yourself one or two of those fine young nurses to play with your pickle ball.
That’s my advice.

Spent 4 days post surgery in the Hospital. My dr. noted the muscle mass in my abdominal wall what has made it painful. Today I improved allot from yesterday. They ended up taking more tissue around the one lymph node and removed a couple of more lymph nodes. Hopefully pathology comes back that I won't need radiation. Praying they got it all - the one node was subcentimeter mildly tracer avid lymph node from the PET Scan. On the prostrate one lesion was Geason 6 the other Gleason 8. Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers.

Don't sweat the radiation, I hope they got it all though. Are you home or still in the hospital? 4 days sucks, it's tough to sleep there. Is the pain under control?
