So lots of bodybuilders deal with acid reflux but it comes a point where I don't think it’s from food choices/drugs but being too overweight.
When I go to bed I wake up choking from the reflux and have to take 10-20mg Pepcid to get back to bed.
I know the Pronton pump inhibitors cause nutrient deficiency’s , but short term they seem necessary.
Any suggestions?
Not sure being overweight has much to do with it as food/food choices, inflammation, possible gastritis etc? Have you thought about getting checked out for that stuff if it’s really bad?
PPI’s also have a massive rebound effect.
I’m currently using Pepcid for my situation.
I had food poisoning a year ago, as months went on my appetite went down severely, lost 20+lbs unintentionally, I made things worse by trying to force feed, make up calories with cheat meals etc.
I was constantly having bad acid reflux, getting full quicker, food aversion, couldn’t digest meat or other “heavier” proteins/foods I used to love etc.
Went to the Gastro 6 weeks ago and got an endoscopy done, turns out I had gastritis, inflammation in my stomach and small intestine..
Currently on a diet that doesn’t provoke gastritis, I’m taking Pepcid as it reduces acid by about 50% to help heal the stomach lining but still be able to digest normally and it doesn’t have a rebound effect, taking Pepzin GI (Zinc-L-Carnosine) as it’s been shown to heal the stomach lining and GI tract etc.
Appetite has significantly increased over the last few weeks, I can eat more food, I can eat sooner (digestion feels much faster), no more acid reflux or bloating or indigestion etc.
Wish I would’ve gotten checked out sooner..
