funny that this topic would come up-
i have trained using rest- pause only for the past 8 years or so since i first read about it on mueller's board.
thru time i played with the routine till i adapted it to what works best for my body, adding in more working sets as opposed to restricting them. i trained each body part once a week.
for the past two months i have bastardised the routine to the point where i now train my whole body 3 times a week, using only two sets of 7-5-3 per bodypart- the entire workout takes me about an hour and 15 min, and i alternate exercises workout to workout to keep my body guessing.
i lam finding i am responding well because the workload isn't such that my can't repair due to the volume, and gives me enough days off during the week to fully repair.
another advantage i have really noticed now that i'm dieting is that it keeps me alot fuller whereas between workouts in the past i'd flatten out considerably with 5-6 days between body parts. this of course could be attributed to dietary considerations, but i have noticed my body responds well to more frequent workouts so i tend to lean to the idea that it's the volume i'm undertaking as opposed to my just diet keeping me full.
it also negates the need for cardio at this point due to the fact i spend little time between sets so my heart rate climbs into my fat burning zone about 45 min. into the session. i have little doubt were i doing cardio i'd prolly easily start losing lean as i feel i am just pushing the envelope in terms of workload and over training being as calorie restricted as i am.
but i know my body well enough now to know when to back off, or add in the calories i need to continue developing.
hope this helps.
