Damn..met him a few days before I came down to San Diego a couple years ago. He was at Golds North Hollywood and asked to work in with me on a machine. I told him it was great to meet him and we talked for 15-20minutes. Seemed like a good guy who was very romantic about the good old days.
That’s very sad, a sad day. He has been in the hospital with a kidney issue and a problem with his knee he had replaced a couple of years ago and was going to have surgery on it. He was a legend on his own. He was part the golden era and later started a YouTube channel with lots of info and interviews with champions and legends. R.I.P. Ric you are greatly appreciated and will be missed.
On the other active post comparing the 80's to now thread, I posted about an old health teacher who knew Arnold, well he also knew Ric as well, and i've seen old pics of them all at the same contest at the end of the 70's and early 80's. I always wanted to ask him if he remembered my health teacher, but I never got around to it. I didn't know he was having health issues, though I hadn't really followed him in a long while. I am saddened to hear of this....
Read a little of his problems at FB...seems he was having issues breathing after a kidney issue (as stated above) that improved and/or was fixed. Anybody heard what was causing him breathing issues?
He stated he was going to have knee surgery on September 2nd....damn.
I remember when i first found his show about five years ago and how much i enjoyed it. His series on Gold's Venice in the 80's w/footage was really great. Even though i didn't know him personally this is a real bummer.
Ive watched his channel a lot and through his channel, learned a lot of injury prevention exercises, if it wasnt for him, id be more injured later in life, I couldnt help other people as much as I do
