Rookie Mistakes...Care to share?

Not eating enough
Training too heavy (Im paying for it now)
Not getting enough rest
Not listening to my body at times
Putting off important things like events and friends for bodybuilding

One thing about making these mistakes is that you learn and then hopefully correct them. I'm glad that in my ripe old age of 31 I have started to learn a couple of very important things. Everyone is different. What works for one person may not work for you. Just because something does not work for you does not mean that all is lost. It just means that you have to find something that suits your needs a little better.

I'm glad I made the mistakes that I did because they helped be realize some very important things now.

Her sole goal is to lift big weights... ours is to build muscle. ;)

She might be stronger than me she still has chicken legs anyway... :eek: :D

Ooooops I have a feeling she won't let me eat her "half-cooked" brownie next time we eat out together... :eek: :D ;)
 
i made the worst mistake of all time. when i was 16 in high school i ACTUALLY BOUGHT cybergenics phase I for $60. i remember i wanted the total cybergenics thing which was $100 but i couldnt afford it. i actually thought i was going to gain like 30 lbs. the workout itself is actually pretty intense, the supplements were TOTAL CRAP
 
Going all the way through a gruelling contest diet only to try that magic fix three days out and screw up six months worth of prep.

Listening to others during contest prep, well others who think they know what to do!

Overtraining, spending too long in the gym every day.

Stepping on stage with a stomach/lower GI bug and nearly ending up in hospital from severe dehydration. (no diuretics)

Thinking that 2 coats of contest color would be enough!

Hitting a bad rebound after my first show and gaining like 14lbs in three days of water!!
 
1) not weighing food to know what I'm actually getting

2) not listening to my body

3) trying to help people that talk the talk, not the walk...

This is an individual thing. Powerlifters do this for years without encountering any problems.

I know, im speaking on a personal note, i dont have the tendons for the weights that i was doing, combined with not knowing how to warm up, etc.
I have a fairly small frame and have had issues with wrists/ankles, etc.

Positives came out of it, i learned how to warm up my rotator cuffs, and spent a lot of time doing rear and side delt work (because its all i could do) and low and behold, I started growing again...duh.

Low incline DB is still my fave for chest though.
 
1. not hitting sauna after a workout to stretch and detoxify

2. helping people/giving advice to those who are half assing their training

3. overtraining

4. not doing cardio everyday
 
1. Taking stimulants
2. Overtraining
3. Thinking I didn't need more than 4 hrs sleep at night
4. Taking the advice of the gym semi-pro when deciding to start AAS
5. Not finding this board until a year after my first cycle
6. Never eating enough, habit formed through 12 years of wrestling
 
wasting money on crap at gnc. not getting the lba's sooner. the most recent one is not so much a newbie but a real dumb ass move. this should make every one laugh. mixed up barrels of synthetek products. always keep em seperate. i was in a hurry both of em are clear. yup i now live true to my sig line. no i dont have a bubble butt. my wife has been making fun of me for the past week.:(
