Rotator cuff surgery

I did a quick search of threads and didn't see anything specific to this subject so thought I'd ask. i'm sure there are plenty on here who have had this problem so i wanted to see what everyone's experience was. One of the muscles that make up the "rotator cuff" of my left shoulder has been nearly torn off the bone now for about 2 years, but hasn't bothered me until late last week. Have an appt. with the bone doc on 07-Oct and I'm expecting we'll schedule the surgery.

Who has had this done before and what is your recovery experience? How long did it take to get back in the gym and start lifting again? Was there a significant loss in size and strength? I'm 53, 5'5", 200 lbs, about 12% bf. Been lifting for 25ish years. I'm really bummed about this because I just started a lean bulk with 750 mg test e, 900 mg deca, 750 mg EQ/week, and 5 ui gh/day.

Surgery is always a last resort for me. Have you researched bpc-157 it really is amazing what it can do.

I am 49, had a small tear in my rotator cuff repaired 3 1/2 years ago. This was a long recovery, 4 months of doing nothing, next 2 months was really light lifting. I was 100% at about 11 months. I had a quad tear repaired in April and just coming back and I think I tore my other cuff, went to the Ortho today and he is ordering an MRI. I really don't want to go through another surgery so soon after the other one but I do not want to live with the weakness.

i can tell you my recovery sucked, I had some spurring removed and also a small bit of bone due to impingement, also had bicep tendon repair done, I should have had it done about a year earlier and I think my recovery would have been a little easier, spent 1 month in a sling, I think I started therapy at the 6 week mark, started lite lifting approx. 5 months post op, and I mean super lite, good luck to ya bro!!

Slow and painful recovery. It takes a while just to stretch the arm out again. I couldn't even raise my hand enough to wash my hair for a while!

I hope it isn't your dominant arm. You won't be able to do ANYTHING for a while, not even wipe yourself,......

You'll learn what pain means when you Walk the Wall in therapy.
