so today was a bad day. i feel stupid about it. ive known that roids will weaken toendons but I have been on many cycles before and lifted heavier then this on dumbell presses. Today was the day my left tendon decided to complety pop off. It was just one huge snap and a 145 lb dumbell almost hit the guy next to me coming down. Its all bruised as shit hurts and barley mobile. so now i learned the hard way on no low reps when on. I thought I was special I gueess, u never think its gona hapen to you. I had minor tears in the pec and gained full recovery, but this is pretty serios huh

so guys that have had the same, how was it? how long is it till basic mobility, and to lifting light weights, and then to ever full recovery?

I officialy believe now I may retire the flat presses, and just stick to military presses which have never felt any pec strain doing those. flat dumbell presses were my fav lift. having to get surgery for lifting some dam weights makes me just feel retarded, u know its not like a car accident or something that couldnt be prevented. Have to say Im lucky it didnt come down and knock all my teeth out, that would had been one hell of double whammy.

sorry to hear this bro, I don't have any experience with this type of injury but I wish you a speedy recovery.

this is the exact reason why I stick to floor pressing BB/DB for when I go heavy :/

That sounds fucking awful bro. How bad is the tear? complete? are you going to get an MRI on it?
Hoping for the best dood.

Man i tore my pec over 10 years ago it had been bothering me for weeks ,but one a lift i could rep for 12-15 i tore it. I felt the way you did bro ,you will always wish that you would have not done it.
Get it repaired and take that recovery road and learn from it. Thats all you can do.
Good luck~

Read my complete tendon thread I did here. If it's not a complete rupture and you don't need surgery then you are in luck.

1. stay away from NSAIDS as they are proven to inhibit tendon healing.

2. Cut out ALL myostatin inhibitors as myostatin is needed within the first 14-21 days of tendon healing.

This would include Large amounts of protein a day/use of BCAA in the 5-10G a serving range, green tea, cocoa.

NO boosters may also lower myo but I think they benifit more than they hurt.

Drink bone broth, or take some gelatin, or some proline, glysine, lysine supplement.

Do Micro-current or low level laser therapy as much/as long as you can.

"The results showed a significant increase in the tenocyte population in the bromelain group; p < 0.05. There was, however, no significant difference in the MDA level. Conclusion: Based on this study, 600 GDU bromelain given once daily in acute tendon injury at a dosage of 7 mg/kg promoted healing by stimulating tenocyte proliferation."

The tendon becomes fibroblastic (populated by mechano-sensitive cells) starting around day 6-7- and fully by day 14-21 in "healthy" tendons.

This is what I have learned/read/experienced.

1. Adding in SOME form of mechanical load (even just the LIGHTEST isometric load) starting around day 6 and on to day 21 can result in a MUCH better healing and stronger tendon.

2. Mechanical loading EVEN during the inflammatory phase of healing can help.

3. If it is pulled at the tendon/bone junction then GH/IGF should be put on hold for 12-21 days

If it is bruised it is at least a class 2 strain, meaning healing will take between 4-6 months on average before you can return to normal/close to normal function. (But it all depends on many thing.)

I tore my pec major very badly the end of 2012 benching 405 and have just recently paused benched 406.5. I dont think you really have to give up flat presses but maybe get alot smarter with them . As far as recovery i think the biggest thing that helped me was keeping my ROM. As soon as physically possible I was benching with just the bar and doing pushups with my hands on the bench and feet on the ground.

And if possible get surgery. I didnt and while I might have recovered physically my pec will never look normal.

I tore my lower left pec over two years ago and believe me I understand the heart break and pain. It's never easy and sorry to hear bro. I was warming up when it happened and I was no where near my max at the time.

My tendon was torn off of the bone and I has surgery approximately 3 weeks after. It was a painful recovery, but after six months I was back benching again. 1 year post surgery I was at nearly 75% strength, while maintaining better form.

You should see a specialist and have them exam the extent of the injury. If you decide to get the surgery, then pick a surgeon who has done a few pec repairs. Within 6 months post op you can begin to workout chest again and it should aesthetically appear as it did prior to the injury, minus the scar.

Best of luck to you!

I tore my right pec three times not at the tendon but in the muscle and every time it was on the flat bench. It took a couple months each time to get a good chest in again.

If it is an insertion tear, where the tendon goes up into your armpit, then see a surgeon ASAP as there is a possibility for repair but time is of the essence. Ideally no more than three days from injury to repair is what to shoot for.

If it is a muscle tear, then there is no surgical fix.

All good info. I've torn my right and left pec and full ruptured my left biceps tendon. If it's a full rupture I would recommend getting surgery otherwise you'll never have full functionality. My pec tears were partial and just involved time off, usually 12 weeks, and working back gradually with isometrics and light weight and going from there. After three tears, I've finally acknowledge my age (43) and limitations and train much differently though I do miss the balls to the wall, heavy/insane weights training, but I'd rather be healthy and consistent. After rupturing my bicep, I still trained just the right side of my body only while it healed post surgery and never want to be limited like that again.

I tore my left pec. Tore the muscle from the tendon like Tony Freeman. They were unable to repair it. That was 12 years ago. I'll never be as strong, but that hasn't prevented my chest from substantial improvement. It just sucks in a front double bicep pose. Took me 18 months to work up to moderately useful weights.

Hey man I read alot of people getting misdignosed on it, and I have read it can be fixed much later on but dont quote me on that, get a 2nd opinion or 3rd even
