Sassy's new photos

The photographer emailed me some of the photos that he took at the after prejudging. I haven't got any from the competition yet. Here's where I ended up. Not as lean as I wanted to be, but I've definitely put some muscle on. I'm hoping that next year we'll be in a better financial situation, so I can hire someone to help me with my prep.

To show my progress... the first two photos are from my first competition (weighed in at 108) in 2000. The second two are from 2005 (weighed in at 112), and the last one is in June (123#'s).

I also never really realized just how stress effects your body, but I felt it this time. I struggled all last year trying to lose weight for our wedding, and ended up gaining 10 pounds. I was so frustrated, but between the renovations on our loft and the crap going on at work it just all took a toll on me.

I actually think that I looked better the saturday before the show, but I think I carb depleted too long. I also didn't get enough carbs the morning before prejudging. I was so brain dead that morning that I couldn't think straight. Everlast kept asking me questions, and I just was like a deer caught in headlights. It was crazy!!!

You did a great job getting into shape...I think every show you learn from, and each time as long as you progress and get better (which you are) your prep will be easier and you will be leaner each show...Great improvements in size and shape...

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

No arguing with you about it being an endless learning processes. It's like just when think you've figured your body out, it changes. I turn 42 this month, and I ended up changing my diet totally from what I've done in the past.

It just feel so good to be back to my usual weight. I lost 30 lbs!

I truly believe age is a mental thing. The grandmother that I was closest too inspired me because she was so active. The assisted living nurse told me that even when she felt her worst before she passed away, she went to her exercise class anyway. She live to be 89.

Btw... did anyone read where the lady who qualified for the Olympics' swim team is 41!! Now that's inspiring!!

Thanks... I know most people are all about getting bigger. I'm really happy with my size. My goal is mainly to stay lean. I'm realistic, so I know you can't be in contest condition year round. If I can be 8-10 pounds out from competition weight, then that's not so bad.

thebrick, after 8 years for this... the diet become some what of a no brainer. It's the micro manipulation for contest prep that is very challenging. Just like Bulldog wrote... it's easier to look at someone else, but it's hard to see yourself. Maybe I'm too critical and that clouds my judgement.
