Alright, when I was a student I bought a spring scale b/c I was too poor to get a better one. I just bought a digital scale, (the only one I could find!) and it weighs in lbs and oz. Before w/the cheapo scale I weighed my food before I cooked it, but it seems that some people weigh their food AFTER they cook it. The only thing I'm concerned about is about chicken. I want to make sure I'm getting the right amount inl. Does it matter all that much or am I being a tard?

I always weigh the food after cooking.
I do the same with most foods - esp meat (beef, chicken, fish, etc)

There are a few things you measure prior to cooking - like oats

beef is a big thing...I buy 95% fat free beef and cook it on the foreman grill and there is no point in weighing it before because it loses alot after its cooked.

I weigh before and go from there. It's not like your using hamburger and your getting a bunch of shit. But I can see how it may work eitherway

flex article about food weighing

i got this out of the most recent issue of flex, please don't turn me in for copying it,lol!!

I often wondered about this, but just blew it off. But I've been looking some values up on the net, and like the article the cooked was coming out w/higher protein than raw. DUH! I can see the rational now. Thanks!
