Ok Bros,

I'm finally seroius about getting my Personal Trainer Cert. I found this school that will, hopefully, make my Fitness Career dream a reality.

My question is....Has anyone heard of this school and if so, is it legit or not? Are there any graduates from this school on this board?

Thanks for your input :D

u know i think my buddy got his cert from them but to tell u the trueth he doesnt make crap as a personal trainer.

You really gotta hustle to make...

...money as a personal trainer and can be quite stressful. Sometimes people think just cause you work for the gym it is easier but, people still gotta hire you. I see trainers all the time asking people if they can train them even for one free time to get them going. It is a tough business.

Yes, I do realize that it's tough to make a living doing this, but my plan is to work at a Gym/Fitness Club as a part-time gig. Then maybe in the future I can go into buisness on my own.

I do ok

I do ok and have no cert, last year I made around 60K. No I have never heard of them.

YOu really dont learn much with most certifications. I did IFPA and whipped the whole thing out in 6 hours. If you know the way around the gym, nutrition and know how to motivate people (read bullshit the pants off em) you will be ok. You only need the cert to get insured.

But yes the gym you work at determines how much you make. SOme gyms are cool and charge a certain percentage up to a cap and some take it all and give you a tiny little bit. Or they could be really suckers and give you nothing, you train for free and are on a simple salary.

My buddy works at a gym in Newport and they only take up to $400 a month from him and he makes a great living doing it.

After 20yrs in the computer business (and 2 layoffs, each after 10yrs service in only 2 jobs) Im throwing my full effort into CPT too. You need a financial cushion to begin with because you have to build a clientele. Mostly by giving freebie workouts and talaking to people to get them to commit money to (X) aamount of training sessions. Ive heard it takes at least 2mo to get going. Im hoping it can be profitable-you gottaa love working in the fitness industry as obviously we all love that world, but Im just praying I can make a descent living. I'll hope to also do some private sessions at their home and therefore no cut goes to a club (or taxes :D )
So my plan is to stay with the club, and also do several private sessions weekly to cover me.

I have pretty much same plan long term, tattoo pierce right now, and slowly build personla training cridentials and try to get my foot in the door, unfortuantly im not rich but i live near the richest section of the state so I also have the same plan to go to thier own home since a large % of people around here have thier own home gyms in thier mansions, seems like your best bet for taking full advantage of income..

Mike,

I know where you're coming from. I'm currently in the IT (Information Technology) field as a Tech Support Specialist. I've been in this filed for almost 10yrs and I'm starting to become disenchanted with it (recent global outsourcing has hit my company - many jobs lost). I'm hoping that I can have a career in the Fitness field.

Thanks to everyone for their inputs. It is greatly appreciated! :D
