Scientific Study On Why Legs Lose Muscle As We Age

Emeric is toally right....in 2011 at 54 years old i took the world and european titles ( WABBA , +50 cathegory ) . Legs were one of my best bodyparts . One year later my wheels started losing size no matter what i did ( squats -press etc..) My upperbody is still there , so now i will follow Eric training wheels 4xweek

I agree that frequency is important and specially for naturals or guys on trt you will get better results training a body part more than once per week, especially if you are a newbie. I have however not seen any studies that conclusively say that more then twice per week is better. Training a body part twice per week resulted in almost twice the progress then once pr week but three times per week was not significantly better then twice for experienced lifters.

It also depends on intensity. For example I split my body in two and lift mostly power lifting style with bench, deads and squats as staples in my workouts. I can handle training the body through twice per week and stay on this program without injuries but if I crank it up to three times per week it will be too much. Training intensity also dictates the frequency.

yes, crom... christian thibaudeau on t-mag writes a lot about having natural lifters train more frequently, each bodypart up to 3 days per week..

So this means once I'm 40 it's possible my upper body will catch up to my legs.

Or my legs will catch down to my upper body.

Barely hitting them once a week as it is.

what kind of hip replacements did you get?

I got the Newest Depuy 36 MM Titanium/Ceramic Hip.
The Titanium Head is Anodized for better wear.
And the Ceramic is now Hardened against Breakage, the older versions couldn't take any hard impacts.
I can Jump and Run with No Problems.
And there's No Weight Restrictions, in fact, when I asked my Surgeon about any Weight Restrictions.
He told me that my Bones would Break, before the Hip would Fail.

I had the Less Invasive Surgical Procedure.
So instead of the Older 10" to 12" incision.
I only have a 6" incision on the outside of both Glutes.

I spent over 10 years waiting for everything to come about.
The Original Titanium Hips were Failing.
Then the Ceramic Hips, which had the Best Wear Feature, were Cracking.
Then there was the Cobalt Chromium Hip, the Metal started to Leach into the Bloodstream, and Poison the Patient.
Then there was the Highly Cross-Linked Polyethylene Hip, they were supposed to be Great, started Failing around 2 years after the Procedure.

And then I needed to find a Great Surgeon.
The Surgeon I choose did his Intern and Residence at the Mayo Clinic.
He's now at Penn-Presbyterian in Philly, where I had both surgeries done............................ JP

The artificial hip stuff is crazy. I had an ex who's dad had a hip replaced, then then artificial one got recalled so they had to pull that one out and put another one in. Brutal surgery and recovery.

Yes, it certainly can be.
This is why I waited so long to get mine done.

I had 14 Intra-Articular Cortisone Shots in both Hips from 2007 to 2016, just to be able to walk half-ass at best.
This is where they take a Very Long Needle and Insert it into the Hip Joint, then Inject the Cortisone ~ Not Fun !

And just a few years back, they hadn't come up with the Less-Invasive Surgery Method, and I didn't want a 12" Scar on my Ass Cheek.
A lot of Doctors still do the Old Style Surgery, with the Longer Incision, which causes Longer Hospital stays, and Much Longer Recovery times................. JP

and how many times have you guys seen me yap about nerve innervations????:banghead::banghead::banghead:

its the key bros!

we can create them using more then just heavy weight too!
good thing as heavy squats at 40+ can suck!

there was a study a while ago looking at running for anti aging.
ppl who did cross country or ran cobblestones were better off...

now apply that to this!
mind/body/nerves!
train that cns!
