Serious question about putting weight on a cat

What do you think is going to put some good weight on an adult cat. I know winstrol tabs at 2 mg are prescribed at VETs sometimes. You think this can be done safely or some alternative?

Yeah, I'm not a vet, just speaking from experience, all we ever used in mx was d-bol, on everything from fighting roosters to cows, and every animal would react good to it, but yeah I'm with you!

The cat is not sick. It need about 1 kg for show weight. I will give you example. The cat weighs 5 kg and should be 6 to 7 kg at shows.

My cat Theresa, who is an international champion at same age of 2 and 1/2 years is 8.5 kg.

The cat has what it takes to be an international champion except one thing, it is underweight for a Maine Coon.

I have no experience here but is equipoise an option? Yeah it was made specifically for horses but it's still an animal-specific AAS and with it being mild I'd think it'd be a safer option.

Thanks for answering Skip. First, realize I don't live in USA. Second, the breeder is studying medicine and close to being a VET. Third, she wouldn't do anything to jeopardize the health of her cats. She is basically studying what the best alternative to do these things.

She actually has a 2 Servals. The FiFe cat organization doesn't consider Savannahs a cat breed, but a hybrid. Different mentality in different countries.

Let's talk about Maine Coons, since I have 5 pedigree ones. All show quality. They are generally passive cats with good temperance. I don't see that breed being to aggressive. I can not say the same about your Savannah or Bengal, they are more high strung and moody sometimes. I seen the Bengals at cat shows, they sometimes get out of hand.

Maine Coons are also long cats too. They can grow up to 15 kg. So, don't let the weight fool you. The first 2 pictures are Theresa. Females are usually smaller then males, but she is good size for a female.

The next picture is Fred. He is the number 1 male cat for 2024 in Romania. A Supreme Premier Champion. The highest award in FiFe. Only cat in Romania to be awarded that in 2024.

Now, my third cat I am showing you is a kitten at 4 1/2 months old. He is already 4.1 kg. He will be a large cat. 2 shows and already won 2 best in shows.

I know your Savannah cost you a little money. I could probably get a Serval here for less or same money. No, I don't want one, lol. They are very active animals and need a lot of space.

I actually got kind of a funny story behind this. My first cat was a beautiful black stray cat. She was so big and muscular, I made a joke to my friends that I give it winstrol. Of course, I never did. When I told them I was only joking, they never believed me and thought I was.

For the record, I have never gave any cat I owned steroids and never will.

Not every cat is good for those shows. You would like Fred. He has his own ING commercial and has been featured on TV many times. I will be on TV with him Sunday. He is the most relaxed out going cat. Loves everybody. He liked the shows just because of getting attention from people. Perfect around strangers and new places. I have him in my car for up to 18 hours and he is super chilled. People know him in Romania by name just because he has been on TV so many times.

Glad to see you like cats like me. I got my first cat in 1986 and been in love with them ever since.

I wouldn't use Winstrol or any anabolic steroid unless it's specifically prescribed and monitored by your veterinarian for a diagnosed medical condition. If an adult cat is underweight, it's much more important to figure out why first, since dental disease, parasites, hyperthyroidism, diabetes, kidney disease, and other conditions can all cause weight loss. A high-quality, calorie-dense wet food or a veterinary recovery diet is usually a much safer way to help a cat gain weight, along with treating any underlying issue. A vet exam is the best first step before trying any medication.

Have you looked into mirtazapine yet? It's commonly used to stimulate appetite in cats. It's available as an oral or a topical. The topical is applied inside the ear.

There are also products with high caloric density made for the purpose of weight gain. You could try these on their own or in conjunction with an appetite stimulant. I know you aren't in the US, but to give an example, one brand here is called Ready Cal. These are malt syrups with added fats and carbohydrates, used as a food topper.
