good for some, not good for others. Every time i do I injure my lower back for example. Basically when you squat - I believe you should go down as low as you can while your spine maintains the correct curve. Remember too my goal is leg size so I like to keep tension on legs, and lessen on lower back.

You are a good squatter. Great style with the SSB. Good to see Dave hobbling around again. Like the chalked set counting system too lol. I used to draw all around the gym when I did my 12 sets of speed squat. You can't lift hard and keep count.
 
my gym is getting a safety squat bar this week :D can't wait to be humbled by 1 pps lol

I really need one of those bars...I simply can't squat with a normal one. My shoulders die in the process and where the bar sits on my traps cuts the blood flow or something and I feel like I'm going to die before even beginning a rep.

I am glad you said this. Every time I tried the ass to grass my legs from the tops of my rods catching and popping would kill me and allow me to do no weight worth a crap. Now I go with whatever depth feels good for that day and presto my legs are growing. I just wish my gym had a safety bar to try because it looks like it would be a great change of pace.
 
What all is the benefit of the Yolk or Safety Squat bar I tried once and didn't really feel good I guess kind of awkward.

Its places more emphasis on quads. You have to sit back just like you would on a normal barbell squat though, which most people miss. You can't just drop down. As you start to descend push your hips back and keep them going back. At no point - drop and dive bomb. You will feel the weight on your heels if you are doing this correctly. That is why I go down so slow..I am literally reaching my hips back as I go down.

I have had some elbow problems (severe strains in pronator teres) so this is nice to give that a break too.

Chode you can bodge job an ssb if its just shoulder issues. Use some heavy duty webbing straps to act as front bars and grab onto them shoulder width. If you watch YouTube vids of clint darden he does it with 750plus so it works

What's your opionion on higher reps for quads an hams, phill Heath and jay cutler recon 20 reps on squats and presses is better for size and lowers chance of injury?

I messed my knee up big time squatting 400lb, was too heavy and on my 6 rep I leaned forward and hurt my ligerment

Was gone try higher rep when I recover (if I do, been 6 months an still sore)

Wow. Here is my basement Safety Squat Bar. If I'm feeling strong I may go to 200lbs.
