Shooting this past weekend

So, this past weekend JT and I met our friend Mat and his wife at the gym. Afterwards he invited us out to shoot some rifles with him and his lifting partner, Alex. Since we actually brought clothes, we showered and after running some errands we drove out to his house. We didnt expect to do any target practice so we didnt bring any of ours. Alex was already there with his army surplus hummer! (JT was slobbering all over it, quite embarrassing actually. )

We shot a small variety of things but the highlight of the day was shooting Alex's Barret 50 Caliber rifle!! I told JT, I have never seen the Bucket List movie, nor have I ever thought of a list of things I want to in my life. HOWEVER, if I were to ever create such a list, THIS would definitely be on there! I went after all the guys and only shot it twice. I hope I can upload the videos properly.

You can hear the slug hitting the target on his. It was knocked down each time it was hit so we shot at some rocks after a while, lol! I can't remember how far, but I think we estimated it was...around 300 yards?!

It was so much fun! Here's Alex shooting his AR-15. I like this picture because I was able to catch the shell being ejected.

I asked him why he wanted such A large weapon.
He stated.....I'll be the last house they come too!

.458 Winchester Magnum

Hey JT,

Just saw this post. Cool shots (no pun intended).

Years ago, I was infatuated with big rifles. The bigger the better I said.
I once owned a .458 Winchester Magnum. (Wanted a .460 Weatherby
Magnum but could not justify the $$.) Did my own reloading. Great
rifle. Don’t recall how many lbs. of recoil it had, but it kicked like a mule,
especially when you weigh a buck sixty Was difficult to fire too many
rounds with it, really messed up my shoulder and neck.

Had a good friend of mine who when if Africa culling elephants for the
government. He used a 600 Nitro Express, at least until the quit making
ammo for it. He showed me a round he had left over and it and it looked
like a Cuban cigar. I think it was the second largest rifle available, the
H and H 700 Nitro Express being number one. All the double barreled
Express rifles are probably museum pieces now.

With my .458 I used to go out to the local shooting range. It was fun
shooting huge blocks of ice with it, would just disintegrate them . . . puff
all gone. We used to haul all sorts of crap out to the range, just to
see what sort of damage it would do. Fun times.

I don’t know what caliber you are using in the fotos . . . what is it? And is
it just for kicks (another pun) or do you actually go after game with
it? I can’t imagine shooting anything less than a polar bear with it . . .
perhaps a grizz. Too much tissue destruction.

That was an excellent story! You have done a lot of fun and interesting things in your life. Truly impressive.
We have a lot of our own guns, but nothing like that .50 caliber! One of our friends who is a surgeon owns it. That particular weapon is about 3000$. Too much for my way of thinking. Lol. Fun to shoot though!
The thought that kept coming to mind after I shot it was....if you are a terrorist and someone is shooting at you with that thing...there is no place to hide!

She is coming home this weekend and we are going to binge watch the new season of SUPERNATURAL season 11 that just came out on dvd.
I picked up these two items
