Short, Frequent workouts. Thoughts ?

Ive been busy lately and when i go into the gym.

I might do something like 5 heavy sets of a main work move like incline bench, 3 sets of flies. Then do some tris and be out in 30 minutes.

and come back sooner like 3 days and repeat.

I feel like im growing faster this way. Then spending an hour plus in the gym and waiting on hitting the muscle 5 plus days later.

anyone else work this way? downsides??
 
OL weightlifting and some of the other Eastern Bloc programs were structured very similarly. I know with cardio they proved it was total time weekly that provided the benefits over length of training each session. Can't get in 30 minutes? Do 3 x 10 minutes that day.
 
If you're going to go this route make sure your intensity is definitely up! You'll CNS will definitely be able to take with the shorter workouts. I've done both shorter and longer workouts and for me I like doing both in cycles to mix things up.
 
Works for me. I've been doing legs mon, wed and fri. Chest, back and lateral raises tue and thu and full shoulders and arms on sat.

Try it.

You said "you feel like your growing", so if you're getting bigger stick to this for awhile. I follow a similar routine and I have all the time in the world.

I follow a powerlifting/bodybuilding routine. I stick to main lifts, and lift every other day, I never train two days in a row, and I keep the workouts under 45 mins.
 
Increased frequency with shorter w.o. duration always worked best for me. Also helps with keeping lean. Phil Hernon actually was the one who got me doing this with one of his post here years ago. Guy had some erratic behavior but when it came to working out he knew his shit.

I've been doing these short, more frequent workouts for about a year now and I'm glad I've been doing it this way. I actually did not intentionally intend to go to this schedule, but my work schedule forced me to do it.

I look the biggest and best I ever have and I owe it to this type of schedule because nothing else has changed.

I usually hit everything twice a week.

I'm learning more and more that Haney was correct..."Stimulate, not annihilate"!
