Does anyone ever think about AAS shortening their life? I have thoughts about this from time to time and if it does shorten life span then how high for how long would it take to have that effect? Also, wouldn't staying on say 250 to 300mg of test E or C per week with 2 to 3 IU of gh per day for life be a life extension dose?

Yeah, it's crossed my mind and does more and more as I get older. I feel good, and look better than I would at 38 for having done AAS. I do wonder if my arteries filling with plaque as we speak:eek: from the bad effect on lipids. But I am usually on real TRT at 125-150 a week. A couple times a year going up to 500 for a couple months. Will it kill me sooner?...I hope not, so I get bloodwork and do what I can to try to keep everything normal as possible.

I don't think 250-300 is a life extension dose, unfortunately. It's about 3x the normal TRT dose. High HCT, maybe HDL/LDL effected badly, Blood pressure raised, etc. It would take some monitoring to see if you could tolerate that over time. It's a crapshoot.

I don't believe in "life-extension" per se but I would think that test and HGH would add more towards quality of life rather than quantity of life.

i dotn think anyone can really anser this since there arent really any scientific studies into AAS users with various doses, and there life span

theres a few articles showing the average life span of alot of professional bodybuilders and wrestlers, think it came out to be about 40 years old, but this was just an article

realisticaly shorteing ur life span could be a combination fo things

e.g using 2-3 grams of testerone could probably shorten your life span

or being 5'8, 260 pounds with 7% bf could probably shorten ur life span (IMO it does, but this is just an opinion) aswell as the AAS use it would take to get to that size, the strain on the heart and cardiovascular system to support that much muscle mass would likely shorten your life span aswell

you need to consider that most guys who use AAS will also MAYBE or likely use things like amphetamines, T3, clenbuterol, ECA etc, HGH in high doses which all strain the body again, and could possibly again shorten your life span, so argueing its solely aas that shortens ur life span isnt necessarily true

the intense training that AAS users go through liek athletes could also potentialy shorten your life span as we take our physiques beyond there genetic limits

i think if your worried about shortening your life span, the best way to go about it is to act sensible and not use huge doses, or be realistic and aware that at some point or size u are straining ur heart and other functions of ur body

if you do choose to use huge doses, etc then thats entirely a persons choice, but to argue that 4 grams of testerone a week isnt going to harm ur health or POSSSIBLY shorten your life span, is IMO abit ignorant or maybe somethign uve convinced urself into

to say aas WILL shorten your life span is maybe a big arguement to make without evidence

BUT to say aas and other drugs WILL NOT shorten your life span is even harder to argue,

but in my opinion

some would rather live a shorter life, say 60-70 years, and die happy knowing there whole life the physique/strength or performance abilities they built through AAS gave them the best 60 years of there life, through giving them motivation, confidence, pride, accomplishment, social skills, advantages, hot girlfriends, maybe a good looking wife who grew to love them, loving kids with there wife, family who are proud of them, friends, psycological support and other aspects people might gain from wat they build through AAS use and devotion

rather then live say 70-80 years watching themself age away, and look back on life regreting things they never pursued becoz they were to scared or concerned

i do agree however, sometimes i think about whether my AAS use is shortening my life span aswell, but atm the life i have is great, and AAS has improved my quality of life greatly

and if my light or mild AAS use shortens my life by 5 years then owell, i lived a great life

Going off for as much time as on and proper pct probably solves the prob

high doses for long periods have proven to be bad for your health. anyone that makes the choice to do that should know the risks. I try to keep everything moderate, hopefully I can make it to being "old"

if I can not use AAS and live to a shriveled 80 or 85 years old in a nursing home, why not use them and live to 70 or 75 and still be active and able to wipe my own ass? just depends what you want out of life.

at a certain age you prob need to ditch the whole "be big as fuck" mentality, and maintain a healthy weight. The constant effect on lipids worries me, but for the 250-300 pounders in the house... you heart has gotta work damn hard to support that much muscle mass. Over the years it's bound to catch up

Well said.

As i start to get older, this Get Big mentality is starting to weigh on me.

At a certain point you have to be mature enough to realize that being healthy is the most important thing in all of this.

Guys like Bill Pearl, Clarence Bass, Dave Draper - all older lifters who are still pushing because they believe in being healthy AND strong.

I agree 1000%!:headbang:

If one is 'careful', meaning they watch their BP, liver, etc. I feel they can cancel out most if not all of the life shortening effects. Might be a simplistic outlook, but there are a lot of old guys still marching around who were gobbling down d-bol only cycles etc. back in the day. Considering all of the other things out there that 'attack us' via food, drink, simply breathing, I believe sensible use, meaning monitor your vitals, and not overloading way past the point of diminishing returns is the way to go.

Proper supplementation with things like...

Vitamin C
Vitamin E
Humanofort
Fish Oil
Flax Seed Oil
Soluble Fiber
CoQ10
Vitamin D3
Resveratrol
Saw Palmetto
Garlic
Grape seed extract
Hawthorne Berry
Niacin (Flush Free)
CLA
NAC
Cranberry Extract
Green Tea Extract
Cinnamon

I think could greatly help with some of the shortening life side effects steroids can have when abusing them.

My Dr. Swears that my aas use is shortening my life. He's an internist and an addiction specialist, great guy. But he says absolutely yes.

Im sure there are many things that shorten the life, not giving AAS a cop out.

For instance eating alot of red meat is supposedly unhealthy long term. That is something consistent with alot of people that have lived over 100. I think also not having children lol (stress).

As I think bloke already pointed out, pretty high exertion weight training or exercise I think makes the heart grow in some regarless of what you supplement.

As whether AAS lengethens anyones life span we may never know a good answer. The only test I recall reading involving the elderly was stopped because the certain individual(s) blood pressured were negatively affected. Which couldve meant many different things.

Look at smokers too. Some can smoke their whole lives and be relatively unaffected. Obviously others get cancer of some sort or die fairly young.

Quality of life over quantity. HRT has definitely added to the quality of my life. I never used much in the way of high doses the few times I cycled, loved the way I felt. Finally, woke up and realized I wasn`t meant to be 260 jacked, not at my age. Feel much better at the lighter body weight.

To each his own.

Best,

Lycan

Could you ask him in which way? It would be interesting to hear a doctors opinion.

Obviously, we will never know if it shortens life. If you die at 72 and used AAS, how would you know if you died early? If you die of a normal cause it is impossible to say. We all probably know of people dying early that lead healthy lives and did'nt use AAS so you just never know. Of course one should strive to live a healthy life but I still think it is possible with responisble AAS use.

Well, i have blasted and cruised on high doses for 18 years and ran hgh the last 4 years and in january i was diagonosed with congestive heart failure at the age of 35...i had blood tests done every 4-6 months, had my blood pressure in check, men in my family die from cancer never heart disease, and kept my diet clean 90% of the time and have no plaque build up...but i do have a heart enlarged 15% which my cardiologist said it was a combo of test and hgh for years that caused it...now i am on 150mg of test a week as hormone replacement and that is it...so i would say yes, steroids can cause major problems for years down the road...

Ofcourse it will. What do you expect from something that makes the body go past it's limits

Depends on the dose.
true HRT or close to it , would not.

I see the average 70+ year old on a daily basis at my job. I have absolutely ZERO desire to age like the average person. For all of the talk, I really don't think most understand how much the human body is NOT built to run efficiently over the age of 70 no matter what at our current stage of medical science.

Also, unless you have grandkids, by age 70, most of your current friends will be dead along with your parents and just about everyone else you care about now.

Living to super old age doesn't seem all it is cracked up to be once people quit shining it up to be better than what it is.

The average 70 year old can't even live on their own without assistance.

Where is the appeal in this aside from watching your kids or grandkids grow?

Also, when do you realize you are likely just annoying people way younger than you?

I want good quality of life. I want to live my life with as little regrets as possible.

I can't say I personally want to be around just to say I lived longer than everyone else....because that just isn't pretty/

I believe in quality over qaunity,,,,besides who wants to be a 100yr old and having others take care of them?
