Shoulder barbotage - I recently learned about this method of "flushing out" calcifications from the shoulder. It is a non-invasive method and has very high effectiveness and good reviews from what I have read online. No convalescence period because we can return to normal daily functioning the next day after the procedure.

I wonder if any of you have had experience with this because honestly I don't know anyone personally who would do it

Shoulder barbotage, or shoulder calcification flushing, is a non-surgical procedure that involves removing calcifications from the shoulder joint using a thin needle guided by ultrasound. The advantages of this method include reducing pain, improving mobility, and minimizing the risk of recurrence. This procedure is considered safe and effective in many cases.

Advantages:
Reducing pain: Barbotage allows for the removal of the causes of pain, which are calcifications.
Improving mobility: Removing calcifications allows for the recovery of full joint function.
Minimizing the risk of recurrence: Improving joint and scapular stabilization reduces the risk of recurrence of calcifications.
Precise action: The procedure is performed with a thin needle guided by ultrasound, which ensures precision and minimizes the risk of damage to other tissues.
Non-surgical method: Barbotage is a non-surgical method, which means a lower risk of complications and a faster return to normal functioning.
Effectiveness: Barbotage is an effective way to treat shoulder calcifications in many patients.

Nice atmosphere and professional service: Many reviews emphasize that the procedure is performed in a nice atmosphere and by specialists who explain everything in detail.

Disadvantages:
Possible pain after the procedure: Some patients may experience pain after the procedure.
Deposits may return: In some cases, calcifications may return.
Required rehabilitation: After the procedure, it is recommended to perform rehabilitation exercises.
Cost of the procedure: Barbotage is an expensive procedure.
Summary:

Barbotage of the shoulder is an effective and safe method of treating calcifications, which brings positive results in many patients. Before deciding on the procedure, it is worth consulting a doctor and, if necessary, carrying out a full diagnosis.

From my short reading seems it is used to get calcium out of tendons. With a good success rate.
As a side note i wonder if it could be effective down the road for getting calcium out of arteries.

This sounds like a nice procedure worth getting but there most likely be a need to determine why the calcifications are forming in the first place as stated the calcifications can recur so that there be a preventive measure to deal with that.

Perhaps that can also help get rid of the "crunchiness" as the calcium nodules would be removed.

Calcifications in tendons (deposits of calcium hydroxyapatite) have a completely different nature and location than calcifications in arteries, which are part of atherosclerotic plaques embedded in the walls of blood vessels. Attempting to mechanically 'flush out' calcifications from an artery with a needle would be extremely risky (risking vessel damage, hemorrhage, detachment of a plaque fragment, and embolism)

I figured all that was just wondering about modifying/expanding on the technique in some way in the future.

Sure, in nearest future anything will be possible and it's happening atm. Development of methods is immense

Returning to the topic of joints, in Poland, a biotech company has developed and is advancing a specific patented technology https://www.arthec.eu/

In short, it's an innovative tissue engineering method designed to fully regenerate damaged articular cartilage. The aim is to treat cartilage lesions effectively, potentially helping patients delay or even avoid the need for joint replacement surgery, but IMO it's going to help for any joint injury. ATM they’ve simply identified a target group that is unable to effectively deal with degenerative arthritis, but ultimately, everyone will be able to restore joint cartilage loss.

Is this similar to TENJET?? I know it removes the beginnings of calcification in tendons. I will be having that procedure in late summer this year on my elbow.

That's why doctors wouldn't do something like that for that very reason due to the high risks.

I had my degenerative changes broken up through needling and manipulation in the elbow under ultrasound guidance. It was a single procedure, and it helped me much more than 10 sessions of shockwave therapy and manual therapy. My elbow was in terrible condition — a torn tendon attachment, a hole in the triceps, fluid buildup, and numerous calcifications/degenerative changes. I wasn’t even able to do tricep cable extensions with just one weight plate, but now the strength in my previously injured triceps is practically the same as in the healthy one.

Since the procedure, in just three months, my arm has grown by 8 centimeters XD So yes, i highly recommend it :D

Definitely appreciate you sharing this. This is kind of something I’m dealing with. Not a tear, but I have some really bad elbow tendinitis where I can’t do any tricep push downs or overhead extensions (or even leg raises with my elbow on a pad) at the moment due to some irritation. Wondering if this could potentially help me as well?

I’ve been trying bpc157 and tb500 and icing it and applying heat, with some intermediary relief until I manage to tweak it again. Probably just need to take a week or two off any pressing movements and see if that does the trick. If not I might have to go down the medical rabbit hole of options

small update - next Monday I have a consultation and if the doctor decides that my shoulder qualifies for surgery, he will do it on the same day
Luki what happened? You didn’t qualify ?

Thanks for the write up Luki. I am going to see if this is available in my area. Last imaging I had of my right shoulder showed amazing amounts of calcification/"floaty chunks" and shit....
