i had the same thing (impingement), and eventually a tear. i put the surgery off for as long as I could, but eventually that was my only option. I couldnt sleep at night, I was in pain everyday at the gym, etc, etc.. It will go from just hurting on shoulder presses, then inclines, then every damn thing.
im about 8 months out from the surgery, shoulder feels pretty damn good. Im back to probably 80 to 85% on most exercises. I still take it easy on incline and flat bench. I havent ventured past 275 on incline or 225 on shoulder presses. Im happy with that though, I couldnt do 135 flat bench after the surgery. All and all, its worth it to get it fixed. Its more of a mental hurdle than anything.
