Long story short:
Several years back, having great workouts, great pumps. Bench was fine. Started using a slingshot on heavier reps. Over time got back up to 350-375. Goal was to get 405 for 2 reps. I'm 53 so last time i was able to do that was in my twenties. So got 405 for two. Next day shoulder irritated. Slowed down and the fourth day could barely do the bar. Thought I tore something. Over time I worked around it but my orthopedic did x-rays (not MRI) and said "well good news and bad news" Bad news is you have a small spur and a little arthritis. Also you will have to dramatically lower your weights. It never got better. It still hurts, cant bench and even dumbbells' hurt BUT some press machines are ok, cable crossovers is fine.
So question is: Do you think I could have torn something?
Second question: Would deca help (Always here it helps with bad joints but never used it) or BPC?

So from what I read, you initially injured the shoulder a few years back, saw the ortho, had the x-rays done, etc and you've been dealing with the pain for sometime now? If thats correct, then I would find a new ortho and figure out a plan to move forward whether that consists of 'scoping the spur/arthritis or whatever but chances are,it's only going to get worse if left untreated. We're close in age and I feel your pain(literally) as I've dealt w shoulder issues for some time. IMO,don't mask the pain with deca(or whatever) get to the root of the problem and address that. Also,if you tore a ligament/tendon its way beyond repair if it's been a few years since the injury, unless it was a partial rip and healed on it's own.

Thanks for the input Stumpy

Stumpy is right. If it all started during a specific event, than you did something. Arthritis and spurs come but do so gradually. Seems those would have been a slow progression of pain. Get a second opinion. They can scope and scrape some of that out. But the odds that arthritis and a spur all culminated is a single day on the platform? Pretty long odds, bro.

p.s. I've dislocated both my shoulders climbing rock and detached a tendon 10 years ago when I high-sided my Suzuki sport bike. I only use dumbells now. They gave me two new shoulders and I plan on keeping these.

If I was in your shoes try BPC. I haven’t utilized it but many swear by it. There’s a natural supplement that I have been using made by Dante thats amazing. Will it help you, I don’t know.

MRI, x-ray is basically worthless.

That's exactly my thoughts!!!! It just didn't make any sense but its hard for me to trust so many doctors! Its sad that I trust people here more then doctors lol. No disrespect to anyone but there are some smart mofos on here!

Dr.'s often start with x-ray as it is cheaper and insurance will pay for it easily and can find non-soft tissue problems. Then if nothing is found they can justify and MRI to the insurance company easier.
