Finished arthroscopic rotator surgery yesterday morning, been waiting 3 long months for it. Unfortunately, when my surgeon finally got inside my shoulder they said my rotator cuff was far too damaged ( massive tear ) and rescinded to be repaired. They also said my arthritis in my shoulder was much more severe then the x-rays had shown. I ended up getting micro fracture on my shoulder bone, extensive debridement & subacromial decompression. I have a follow-up in a week with my surgeon, i’m disappointed with end results obviously but i’m not giving up the gym just yet. I’m going into the rest of this year really attacking the PT and just giving my body a complete rest from weights, supplements , peds, hyper focus on cardio/stretching , downsize a bit and see where i’m at around December/ January. I just turned 44 so i’m somewhat suprised my shoulder was beyond repair. I work with multiple 60+ plus year olds who’ve never excersised a day in their lives and they’ve all had successful rotator cuff surgeries ( some multiple times ) in there late 50’s/60’s.
