Im having the hardest time getting wider shoulders. Thickness is no problem width is the issue. It seems like a lot of the time when I do lateral raises my traps come into play. Anyone have any tips of tricks on getting wider shoulders??
When you do laterals, lean your head back so you're looking up. Also, don't try to "muscle" a weight up if you're going heavy...instead, do explosive partials. If you go lighter, slow the movement down and SQUEEZE the delts.
Thrash rear and side delts, try going light and move the position around a little bit untill you feel it in your side delts! it will give you that 3D look in your deltoids
What I've been doing is rotate my wrist where the thumbs starts and ends in the pointed down position. My pinkies if I were to flare them out would point to the sides. I keep my wrist locked in that position. Basically what I'm getting at is my hands are pronated in a locked position. I like to do swings like the rear delt destroyer but stand up for the medial heads. When I get down to the light weights like say 10lbs I try to go up where my elbow stops at my nipple level. The dumbell never goes above my chest. Since I've been training this way no more sore traps and my medial (side) delt kills me the next day in soreness. I was all front delts before. I even have a reconstructed left shoulder from having over developed front delts when I was teenager. Stay away from seated presses with a back support. I do my overhead presses standing (because men don't piss sitting down). I stole that one from Jim Wendler ha
