Hi guys, im dealing right now with sibo, and my symptons are weakness, bloating, headache and loss of hapiness. I treated 14 days with rifaximin ( 200mg three times daily ) and i don´t come better.

I've done multiple tests ( gastroscopy, blood test, microorganism ) and everything looks okay, excepto a low gastritis. I´d removed h.pylori 5 month ago.

Anybody has experienced this issue ?

I have had hpylori and gastritis, the antiboitic protocol for h pylori was dreadful, bactrim and some other crap, it wiped out my GI flora for years, I was 21, I did not know much about probiotics, and of course my doctor wanted me to come back with more health issues so he can further keep me sick (thats what they do, thats why they dont warn you that your microbiome will MOST LIKELY be out of wack per EVERY antibiotic prescribed that and most of them dont know becuase they are only taught cookie cutter information in their MD school)

I just want to say After reading the other sibo thread last week, it has been probably a week since I quit my PPI after almost 20 years on it. I am using betaine hcl and digestive enzymes. like one of the veteran members said, I now hardly have to use the betaine HCL with food. My stomach acid is working on its own better! incredible results, another horrible experience with doctors.

Never trust an out of shape doctor or a fat trainer, a broke banker or a hopeless romantic for relationship advice.

What enzymes do you use?

Lots of GI issues going on here lately...

Like Muay Thai mentioned, antibiotics destroy your gut flora and it takes time to rebuild your microbiome.
I've posted and reposted this article but I firmly believe John Meadows knows what he's taking about.

I’m really glad to hear that it’s working out for you. I noticed the exact same thing after using the betaine for awhile and now only use it for my largest meals

man thank you all so much for your help, digestive wise I feel better than I have felt in years. I do not fear eating whole foods anymore like I did. babysteps. I had bigboy abs but looked pregnant, i had a 6 pack forever but looked like a ninja turtle.
What enzymes do you use?

SOURCE NATURALS, Daily digestive enzyme, out of 30 brands in the last 15 years, these are the best, and my freak friend in RL who is a student of dante and friend uses these. Id also like to add due to ptsd tremors and convulsions while sleeping, I have tren sweats for 15+ years before I even knew about tren. so I get super dehydrated, and its not until I drink a half gallon of ice cold water in am does my stomach burp itself and feel OK, ps im using a specific probiotic for SIBO, as i have read many probiotics can worsen sibo symptoms ... NOW Supplements, Saccharomyces Boulardii,Probiotic 5 Billion CFU, 60 Veg Capsules

Thanks!!

did you treated SIBO to?

I´ve done the rifaximin treatment with a procynetic and i don´t feel better. But i think that Betaine and pepsine its when your stomach don´t produce enough acid, maybe its no useful in every cases.

There are 5 month since i removed h. pylori and when i´d finished the pylera ( triple-antibiotic therapy ) i felt right. My sibo issues began 2 month ago, and today i got the gastritis diagnose.

Your Sibo was caused by the heavy antibiotics used to treat h. Pylori. A good probiotic supplement along with glutamine and some fermented foods will go a long way towards healing this

It´s possible, but i´ve been treated with probiotics since a month ago and i don´t feel better.
I have contacted with a spanish doctor ( im from spain and we have not so many specialist in microbiome and sibo ) specialist in SIBO, and after i´ve done the air test and finished my first rifaximine treatment, she think i could be positive sulfure hydrogen sibo and thats the reason because the rifaximin dind´t work and i have a low methane curve in the lactulose air test. Actually there is no test in spain to dectet this kind of sibo and i must try the treatment.
im still bloating and without energy all day, thats very frustrating. Ill begin tomorow with the treatment and she said me if ill don´t get better maybe i have candida.

I had good success treating what I thought was SIBO (couldn’t get a definitive diagnosis) with the following protocol:

-enteric coated peppermint oil
-berberine
-n-acetyl cysteine
-lots of cooked and cooked rice/potatoes

There’s method to the madness: the peppermint oil kills the bugs in your small intestine. Has to be the enteric coated capsules so it reaches the small intestine.

The NAC is a “biofilm disruptor” which is a cool as fuck sci fi name. The bad bugs in your small intestine can shield themselves under this weird shield thing called a biofilm and the NAC breaks that down so the peppermint oil can do its thing.

I actually can’t remember the point of the berberine but it was definitely in the protocol...

Cooked and cooled starches like rice and potatoes form a type of fibre called resistant starch. Super good for your gut health; it ferments into butyrate which feeds the good bacteria and the starch also binds to the bad bacteria and flushes them out. Makes you super gassy at first which kind of sucks but it gets easier.

It also is best to eat a low FODMAP diet while you’re doing this so as to not feed the bad bugs at all, even if you’re not particularly sensitive to fodmaps.

I think that’s everything. I also remember reading herbal protocols like this are just as effective as antibiotics so if you don’t feel those helped it could be worth a try. Just wish I could remember where I found the protocol...

Best of luck to you anyway whatever you do. Digestive issues are fucking life ruining but it’s so good when you finally conquer them.

Just to clarify: it is cooked and COOLED rice or potatoes. So cook them up and eat the cold. Don’t reheat.

Thanks for the advice!

How long ago did you have SIBO until you erradicated ?

Did you lost strenght, endurance and hapiness ?

Good question. To be honest, the SIBO protocol was one of many things I was throwing at the wall to see what stuck.

I definitely had some quite considerable relief, but my gut health journey wasn’t complete until after I did a very long and boring elimination diet to work out what my trigger foods were. If you have any kind of food intolerances, you will never have a healthy gut until you identify and remove the triggers.

If I were you, I would do the elimination diet at the same time as the SIBO protocol. Kill two birds with one stone.

You can reheat . the resistance starch comes after it cools . cooking rice with a small amount of coconut oil adds to the resistance starches. There are lots if articles on this .

yes neem, clove, oregano, all kill parasites and most everything bad, all of this is part of the ayurvedic methodology of treatment I read, these guys are obviously on to something, this medicine long before christ, and according to the hindus and the egyptians their original physician knowledge came from higher intelligences, amongst other cultures with similar stories (popol vuh mayan) etc, the surgical procedures were extremely advanced

I cook everything with olive oil becuase it has lauric acid anti inflammatory

Oh yeah seems you’re right. I was under the impression reheating destroyed it.

So, just an update - I realize the betaine HCl + bitters+ pepsin blend brought my normal stomach acid back within seriously 48 hours. Now from going to having inadequate amounts, to having excess amounts when i dose, I am trying to figure it out. I read online that it may be advisable to continue your PPI first few weeks on it, and slowly taper off not quit cold turkey after 20 years (oops). One thing for certain is I feel brand new not having bloat! heartburn I can deal with, indigestion KILLS, literally, slowly, via leaky gut, sibo, diverticulitis, GERD, h pylori etc

so anyways today I woke up and noticed my stomach acid was present, not heartburn, but i can tell it was there. So I drank my normal protein shake and had digestive enzymes and some baking soda tablets. NO heartburn, later I had a greasy meal, ate a betaine hcl capsule, and got a lil heartburn but was settled quick with 2 baking soda tablets. so far so good.

also, I just ordered some ayurvedic choices for a more aggressive natural support :

neem, Triphala (a blend of 3 ayurvedic herbs, one of them is the herb buddha is often depicted with I read and found that bizarre and simultaneously interesting), DGL, slippery elm, melatonin.

heres a cool study on triphala!

May need to even slow down a bit more on the hcl and only take it once or twice daily before larger meals. Sounds like you’re adapting nicely and the goal here is to eventually quit the betaine once your natural hydrochloride acid levels are sufficient
