Silva moving up

What are everyone's thoughts on Anderson Silva moving up to 205? I think it's going to be an eye-opening experience. There are so many great fighters in that division, and especially a hell of a lot more punching power for him to get caught with.

If he can make those gains solid and keep his agility i think he'll do well he is more rounded than most guys in that class.

But just adding more weight is crazy unless its pure muscle.

Its the smart move right now.

There is no one else at 185 for him to face. He destroyed Rich 2x, and Rich has destroyed everyone else... what does that tell you.

I guess he could stay at 185 and fight Bisping, but realistically thats a 1 round fight for Silva.

The 205 division is stacked... Griffin, Liddell, Rampage, Wandy, Henderson (he will fight at 205) etc... Its a good division. He has some potential big bouts in the division. Headliners that will pay him some serious jack!

He will be undersized at 205... Griffin is 230 when training, Rampage last week he was up around 240-250 this year, I highly doubt that Silva walks around at anything more than 205...maybe 210.

He needs to add some serious muscle ... but the guy is well rounded, excellent power and stricking, a great ground game...

I think he will do well against the Jardines and Irvins of the 205 division, but the "A" fighters will have a huge size advantage, will have the same power (if not more) and will just be stronger. But only time will tell...

i still think he'll be a force at 205, if he gets anyone in that Muay Thai clinch theyre not getting away

I've heard something similar to that as well, but to be honest, speaking ONLY about physical appearance, he isn't exactly shredded at 185, so him being 215 or 205 for that matter, is only bulk, so it will be interesting to see how that affects him. That being said, if he can maintain his agility, he'll wipe out just about anybody.

i have such a hard time pulling for the guy. Not sure what it is, but he just rubs me the wrong way. Should make for some exciting fights, though.

he will still hold his own. he is a very well rounded fighter, prob one of the most well rounded in the UFC period

It is only for one fight.

Silva is only moving up to 205 for one fight for now. This fight of course will have no bearing on his Middleweight crown and win lose or draw he returns to the middies. This card was a short notice card to cut into the PPV Affliction card that is also on that night. The original main event was supposed to be Brandon Vera dropping to light heavy to face Wanderligh Silva but Silva turned it down. The next fight was Vera vs Lyota Machida at Light Heavy but that was turned down by Vera. Third choice was Silva vs Irvin. A pretty good matchup for Silva who as said before walks around at 215. Irvin has heavy hands and he likes to stand and trade and when you factor in the pin point striking accuracy of Silva you could see some fireworks. Vera is still moving down to LH for the card and he is fighting Andy Reese an IFL veteran.

I think he is athletic enough to make this move with no problems.

I'd like to see bisping v silva, i think silva is too light weight to move up to 205 but would do well as he is an all round quality fighter and props too him for wanting to fight harder fights but look at my hero ricky hatton vs floyd mayweather ,hatton nearly lost his career for being brave and wanting too fight above his weight
