Skin tanning tips: Know your tanning time
In case you didn't know, your skin reaches a tanning cut-off point when it physically can't produce any more melanin (the tanning pigment), so it's pointless to lounge by the pool all day.
"Everyone has their own melanin cut-off, typically two to three hours or much less if you have fair skin" says Dr Lowe. "After this you're just subjecting your skin to the risk of UV damage."

Skin type research (1)
Our skin comes in a wide variety of colours, ranging from shades of pale white to dark brown. Although an individual’s skin colour is influenced by numerous factors, the most significant is its content of a pigment called melanin. Melanin is also the pigment responsible for determining hair and eye colour.
Skin Type 1:
Extremely fair skin, always burns, never tans.
This is the palest skin tone which is the most sensitive to sun exposure. This group always burns and usually peels.
Notice: Always use a sunblock on the face and an SPF on the rest of the body regardless.
