Who still does them and are they really needed for maximum tricep growth?

Still my favorite Tricep exercise, and I think I look pretty bad ass doing them. :p

On Phil's recommendation I traded skull crushers in for triceps press, shoulder width grip bring hands down to shoulders flat or declined. I have gotten great results.

I still do them. ez curl bar on the Flat bench.
I dont know if there needed but they seem to be what has always worked the best for me.

Still doing them about every other time I isolate tri's.

i've traded them in for floor/dead skulls

Most of my tricep growth came from lying tricep extensions but
so came elbow bursitis.

What the hell are dead skulls...Are they skullcrushers just lying on the floor...Explain please

Skull Crushers on low-pulley give me the same workout but alot less of the elbow pain associated with the e-z curl bar, maybe its just me..

I don't do them no more. Havent done them in five years. Dont miss them one bit. They hurt my elbows when I do them and hurt my shoulders getting the bar into position to start and when I finish. Probably kept doing them longer than I should have because I had read some magazine or heard some expert say they were indispensable.

Well I disposed of them just fine. And get better results with much less pain with close grip pressing movements.

Tricep ext. but the eccentric motion is brought to the floor with a slight pause and then you start the concentric phase. You eliminate the reflex from the tendons and it's predominantly the muscle lifting versus the tendons doing a lot of the assistance at the bottom...

Don't do them as much either it really beats up my elbows. Stick to close grip on the bench and machine press for heavy tri work.

Try them lying on the floor with dumbbells...palms facing each other bringing fists towards your arm pits.

I alternate between doing dumbbells like above and using the bar like you do from the floor.

heavy weighted dips has worked best for me for tricep growth. but my triceps have always grown some reason way faster than any other muscle. dunno why:confused:

yep

definitely do skull crushers, close grip and wide grip with EZ bar. definitely feel a good pump doing them. dont know if they are indispensable but definitely a good exercise in my opinion.

on the other hand, most people swear by the close grip bench press but in all honesty, i just dont feel my triceps working as hard as when i do skull crushers, pull downs or dips.

whats the difference between floor skullcrushers and regular (on bench)?

and don't say one is on the floor and the other is on bench!!! :D

i mean, i see the diff between flat bb bench and floor presses (limited range of motion).

btw, i forgot floor presses for nasty tricep growth.
