SKULLCRUSHERS

I still do skull crushers. Its funny though, I realized that doing skulls on a decline bench (Also close grip decline) worked my triceps a lot better.

After doing it a while, I saw some article online about MRI scans of what movements recruited the most muscle fibers, and sure enough, they found out that decline close grip and decline skulls were far more effective than flat for recruiting the triceps.

Go figure..

Better stretch and more continuous tension would be my guess...

i say for sure do them. in the last two years i have gotten most of my growth from skullcrushers. but, i find that doing them with a straight bar, laying opposite on the flat bbell bench, with a 45lb bar and go up to 135 for the heavy set (2 45's on each side). try em' its a great hit!

Never did them much. If so, I would do the lying overhead press. Less stress on the elbows. I got most of my tricep bulk from narrow grip bench press. For good separation I like the rope over hand pushdowns & one hand under grip pull downs.

definitely do skull crushers, close grip and wide grip with EZ bar. definitely feel a good pump doing them. dont know if they are indispensable but definitely a good exercise in my opinion.

on the other hand, most people swear by the close grip bench press but in all honesty, i just dont feel my triceps working as hard as when i do skull crushers, pull downs or dips.

ditto

Skullcrushers give me tricep tendonitis. I would rather do dips and close grip bench better results IMO and will help with all other pressing movements as well.

I say stick with close grip free bar presses, reverse grip presses on smith machine DC style and straight bar pushdowns... your elbows will thank you and for muscle size you can't go wrong with these 3.
