How many of you guys have it and use a C-pap??

A buddy of mine has had it for years and a couple of months ago got his sleep study and been using his C-PAP , since then he has started making some impressive gains , I honestly thought he was taking more gear.!!

Just wondering how big of a difference in recovery better deep sleep plays.

I recently did a sleep study. Apparently, I have 4,x apneas on average per hour. The diagnose start from 5 apneas per hour. The doc was happy to tell me I didn't have sleep apnea but I wasn't very happy with the result tbh. On my Side, I had like 2 apneas per hour, on my back 17 per hour:eek: she told me to wear a backpack in my bed to prevent me to roll on my back.

Since then, I've lost Some weight and slept a bit longer. Made pretty decent gains on legit trt and 3-4iu gh (decent for taking this amount).

At my heaviest, I was tired all day and had a very bad memory. So yeah I can believe he's making good progress. Dont let it untreated.

I've had one for 7+ years. During my 2 overnight tests, I was at 60+ apneas per hour. Now with the mask, I am under 2/hour.

IMO it's an invaluable tool for cardio-protection. Yes, I def have more daytime energy but the heart damage without a CPAP is what concerned me more.

On a side note, my hematocrit stays much closer to normal and I usually only have to dump blood every 12-18 months vs. 3+ times a year pre CPAP.

Holy cow 60 apneas per hour. And I Am complaining about 4 per hour lol:eek:

I was diagnosed with it. I had a specialist look at me and he told me I have a severe Deviated Septum. He thinks this is causing my snoring problems. I am getting this done and then doing another sleep study.

I have had extensive nose surgery and use a resmed s10 as well. Have had like 7 nights in the sleep lab (thanks to german health insurance). Without i have an ahi of 17. I was feeling absolutely terrible to the point i was afraid that i cant work properly anymore. The cpap got rid of this.

Weight is 240 in the moment.

First time i was in the sleep lab i got diagnosed with only an ahi of around 7. I had it only when sleeping on my back so i was recommended to wear a vest. I can tell you it sucks to sleep with a vest.

I dont have any problem with the mask. Have worn it 100% since day 1.

I self-diagnosed my sleep apnea, given that I was snoring loudly and caught myself many times waking up gasping for air. I purchased a Philips Respironics off Craigslist.

I've been using it for 9 months and it definitely makes a difference. It took a few weeks to be able to go a whole night with it - the sensation of exhaling against airflow was really hard to get used to. But once I started getting a full night's sleep with it I immediately noticed a difference in how refreshed I was upon waking and had better energy through the day.

Get one, you'll wish you had years ago.

I had 16 events per hour and feel so much better using the apap. Once of the best decisions I've made was finally doing the sleep study.

I had over 200 episodes during my overnight study, cpac user for 1 week now and it is making big difference in how I feel upon waking and daytime energy. I put it off for damn near 20 years though, big mistake.. it is easy to comply once you see the difference...

I do. It makes a difference in the gym, although I didn't suddenly start making crazy gains or anything, but even more so in everyday life. Plus it is much healthier, and you're less likely to have heart problems and die, so I recommend it. If you think you have sleap apnea, get a sleep study and get one.

I have had my machine for 6ish years now. Best decision I ever made getting that done. I can’t sleep without it now and if I do I wake up feeling hungover. Headache, dry mouth feel like I didn’t sleep.

Same here. If I fall asleep without it for a couple hours I feel like complete dog shit. My cpap is a life saver. I sleep 6-8 hours without waking up once

Questions

Very intrested in this topic. A few questions from the people in the know or has had experience please.
1. Advisable/alright to just purchase a CPAP without a sleep study?
2. How about those anti-snore devices that stop or minimize the snoring?
3. Sleeping at an angle, will it help?
4. Any place I can order(online) without a doctors script?
Thank you in advance for the responses.
Take care.

I had 65 episodes an hour on my take home test but didn't get any relief from my CPAP. I tried to set the parameters myself though on the machine because I bought one online after my insurance told me they don't cover it. I couldn't stand it and am back to sleeping without it. If I would've felt better after wearing it I would've kept going but sleeping with it on was torture and I felt the same throughout the day.

I had the machine and could not sleep with it at all maybe 2 hours a night I had to return it I am sleeping a lot better since I have lost about 40 Pounds still have about 40 more to lose but I will get there....

the importance of the sleep study is they determine the pressure setting for the machine on an individual basis, if you buy one used online you will be guessing at pressure setting you require.

Most modern CPAP machines have built in analytics that will tell you for example the number of events per hour. Adjusting the pressure really isn't rocket science and I'd be damned to pay some technician moron to do it for me. You start really low to get used to it. Then you crank it up over time until your AHI is where you want it to be (<5 at least). If your machine has automatic adjustment, then all you need to do is tinker with the minimum and maximum pressure.
