Sleeping 'assistance' recommendations

Hey guys ...

I have horrible problems sleeping at night .. and the over the counter stuff really takes me out of commission in the AM, as I'm now doubling up on dosaging just to get any sort of effect ...

I can't get prescription sleeping pills from my doctor, as it's close to impossible to get them on Ontario doctors - they hate giving out prescriptions for them.


Any recommendations to prescription sleeping pills?
If I'm going to source it out online, I'd love to know which ones you've found to work well.

I read in a fitness magazine somewhere that OTC sleep aids are terrible for you, they make you drowsy but prevent you from falling into deep sleep which would explain why you're out of commission the next morning. It was recommended if you're going to use them, then go for the real stuff.

As for recommendations, I'm sorry I really don't have any experience with them. I've heard halcion is good but highly addictive. Ambien is supposed to be good and non addictive.
 
A teaspoon of tryptophan powder nocks me out fast-zero hangover. Use the prescription meds as a last option-you WILL develop a dependency....
 
Ok finally something I can chime in on.... I had insomnia for days at a time.. i got put on ambien last year and OMG what a mess that was.. I was sleeping a solid 8 hours but yes its HIGHLY addictive.... i do not recommend it. I had to ween myself off it. I will only take it in extreme cases. I would recommend trying some 5-htp which u can buy at any local groceries store or can order online legally. it helped me a lot.. it raises your melatonin levels helping you to sleep. stay away from the prescribes please!!!!!!!

I don't think I can touch melatonin (isn't is a natural depressant?)

I guess i should just start having sex before bed. That usually makes me really tired naturally! ;)

My wife likes valerian root. Its kinda mild though... sex is better :D
 
I just have lots of sex before bed and I sleep like a baby. Sometimes I even have it with a partner :D
 
I take melatonin at 3mg doseage when i have troubles....Maybe once or twice every couple of weeks...It works really great for me....
take it and 30-40 minutes later be ready for some good sleep...
Whether or not it is a depressant, i cannot say....

i wake up at 5 am daily, i have no problems in fact i feel refreshed and full of p and vinegar...

Have you adjusted your eating habits to lower your metabolic rate as bedtime approaches, meaning, eating your last meal a bit earlier? If your speeding from calories and carbs at night, it will be hard to sleep.

Good study quote as always from ya. Although, the "more artificial solutions" may just be a prob. for me;) Let's see what other solutions/help there is out there first or do you already know of a good solution...
