Bad news? Slight slipped disk my doc says. Mri 2morrow. How bad will this set me back you think?

I am in the midst of healing up a C6/C7 slipped disk. I have been down for two months. Not completely down but at roughly 50%. I lift and train MMA/BJJ so this has devastated my lifestyle. I'm living without two of my true passions.

Many things must be taken into consideration. First off, what disk? Next, do you have numbness, tingling or a noticable to severe loss of strength? Stenosis like symtoms?

I lost a great deal of strength in my right arm and shoulder. Roughly 40% . This has been a frustrating and, all masculine ego aside, scarey time for me. Some need 12-18 months to regain strength. Some never fully recover. I'm on track to be back in business (90 -100%) in a months time (3 total months).

My best advice is to start with the least invasive treatment options first. Chiro, PT etc. Next, do not believe the internet horror stories. You're a strong, fit and focussed athlete. There's no reason to think that you're not on the high side (statistically) of a speedy recovery. In short, stay positive!

Good time to dial in a new diet. Good luck and hope all works out for you

that really sucks:banghead:

I should add, you mentioned 'slight slipped disk'. That's an excellent sign. That means, depending on what the MRI says, that retraction is possible. Adjustments and other chiro work should be able to pull the disk material back into the allocated space.

Yes to the tingling down left arm. My doc said today to stay away from chiro until mri comes back. Ididarms yesterday, no drama worried on legs and back day though. ....1/2 way into a great tren/mast/prop/winny run..feeling and looking better than ever..sux

Well...that sucks and I hope it is nothing major. However, you mentioned tingling down the arm.
Can you be more specific as to how it travels down the arm? That will give me an idea of the location of the problem.

Also, how did this happen? Accident?

I would def hold off on any physical activity until the results of the MRI are in and you have had a consultation from the Dr.

Keep in mind Discs don't slip. The anatomy of the disc is such that is does not slip and slide around...trust me...I have some training in this area and they are very attached to the cartilaginous vertebral endplates. Discs are also like a jelly donuts. Sometime the donut bulges and sometimes the donut gets its jelly squeezed out. In your case, I would venture to guess based on the basic info provided that you have a degenerative disc and you are experiencing some loss of space in your intervertebral foramen. This is a space where the spinal nerve exits the spinal cord. When pressure is applied to the spinal nerve via narrowing of this space you can have paresthesia/tingling, even weakness.

but you should def consult a neuro surgeon or a good ortho that specializes in spine

Happened due to getting careless on seated dumbell shrugs. Bad/lazy form on initial lift.
The tingling starts from the arm pit area and travels allthe way to my fingers. Numb, yet tingling. On anti-inflamatory, muscle relaxers and pain killers.still hurtz, but not as bad as yesterday.
On a good note, Blood pressure 121/69'...4wks into a heavy trenA Cycle

hmm....well that would suggest very low cervical. I will be curious to hear what the MRI shows. Hopefully, nothing!!

You might just benefit from something called Vax-d....but I would of course wait till the MRI clears.

hows that trenA cycle working...dosage? any weight gains? I am very interested in it.

The November before last I bulged my L4 L5 disk. I was down for 3 months

Cycle is going well. Only a couple of pounds up, but losing bf and gaining muscle at the same time, so i dont rely so much on the scale. Oxy100mg daily/prop100 eod/trenA150eod/mast100eod....just finished4wkz of oxy, dropped it and added 100winny daily. Still sitting at 204, but been there for last 3 cyclez.... Not weighing more, but Iam carring a hella lot more muscle. The oxy pushed me to 211 but i washella bloated.

Yeah man. It sucked. The only advice I can give is that really helped me was physical therapy. Take care of that back. It's better to take care of it now than let it hold back and hinder your physic goals for the rest of your life
