SMZ/TMP DS Antibiotics

I know a lot of you guys keep antibiotics on hand in case certain situations arise and was wondering if a bottle of this is worth keeping in the tool box or not really the type antibiotics for our thing. Thanks.

This drug is mostly used for treating inner ear infections and preventing pneumonia

I don’t. If I need it, I’ll go to urgent care. I live in a major city though, plenty of hospitals near by

I keep Zithromax, amoxicillin, and cephalexin on hand

Unless you are a medical professional, and even if you are, I would not recommend treating yourself with abx. You can increase your chances of resistance and also make it more difficult to treat a serious infection, if one is to arise, if you have already started treatment at home. I constantly have to tell patients to take their full course of abx because so many will try and hoard them when their symptoms begin to resolve. Then they use 1 or 2 the next time they have an infection, come to the ER, and fuck up the treatment plan. It’s just not something to be taking when “you” think it’s needed because usually it is not.
