Now your getting sued for no reason. For that very reason if this ever happens and im around ill just turn the other cheek.

You don't need to be cpr certified to do cpr, you are covered by the law, they have proven that even when people don't know how to do cpr, it is better than doing nothing.

You are actually required by law to help someone out who is in distress if no one else can and it doesn't put you in danger.

I think I read a year ago or so that they are now encouraging people that do not have any CPR experience to do nothing but the chest compressions because they actually found that its more effective for them than trying to do the standard way. Some people hesitate to do CPR because they dont want to put their lips on someone elses, so doing it with just compressions is easier for them.

Let's not forget the fact she checked out of the hospital AMA to go to the casino. This alone says a lot about her "injuries" and state of mind when the injuries occurred. In a perfect world I'd say you have nothing to worry about. Unfortunately this world is over run with greed and lawyers looking to make a quick buck.

To everyone else, Thanks for the encouragement! Im honestly not even going to see the inside of a court room though. the cops firemen and paramadics eat lunch here a lot on the weekends. they said the judge will probably throw it right out as soon as it crosses his desk.

yea def that works all in your favor - doesn't neglect the fact you gave her cpr though unfor..Hopefully you get a decent judge and he laughs his ass off and throws it out

here is the sad thing.. even though you are protected your company will probably pay her something to get her to go away.. so ever way she wins..

years ago when i was in the car business a old man had a heart attack in his car at the diner next door.. one of the sales man that worked for us heard the excitement and rushed over.. the car was locked from the inside and the man was slumped over the wheel.. our guy picked up a brick and broke open the window.. a piece of glass slightly..SLIGHTLY.. cut his cheek.. no stitches required and our guy pulled him out of the car and was assisted in giving him cpr.. the rushed him to the hopsital.. he recovered.. but he and the car lot were sued by him (his children) for the broken window and the "pain and suffering" of the cut cheek..

I wouldn't worry, NJ has the good Samaritan Law, which means you can't be sued for trying to help someone who was clearly in distress.

yes what LATS said is true...she will get paid and they will do it to settle out of court...in a way you are lucky it happened at work and your employer is taking care of it.

Yeah, I think youll be fine. The only way you would be at any risk would be if you were one of the paramdeics and had that happen. A professional trained in those procedures would be at a higher risk of losing a suit.

Not true at all, in doing their job, they'd be covered under some type of qualified immunity just as the OP is protected by being a good samaritan.

Fact of the matter is, anyone can be sued for anything, whether you are a professional for doing your job or someone who is just trying to be a good human being. Hell, my brother in law sued me after I called the police on him when he and his wife were in the middle of a domestic and he threw something at her head, and we're in different states!

I'm pretty sure the Judge in this case will throw out the suit with prejudice.
