So my shoulder is f**k I went to orthopedic surgeon

I had 2 tears that were at least 85% of the way off the bone according to the MRI, Infraspinatus and supraspinatus and i had a ruptured bicep tendon as well. Had that all taken in 1 surgury. Was in a sling for a week. But i was not in any pain after the surgury so the Dr said i could take off the sling. It was a precaution to keep people from grabbing my arm or bumping it for the most part. Never missed a night of sleep and stopped pain meds in less then a week. Trained 3 appendages the best i could 10 days post surgury. The time line for recovery was vastly reduced on ever visit i had with the Dr as i was healing quickly. They tend to give worst case scenario's to people. That way people can end up happier with the progress they are making.
Good luck with the surgury. It should go well if you have a good sportsmen medicine ortho from my experience.
Oh and I forgot to mention. I’m be in a lot of pain for how ever it last because I’m not taking any pain meds.

I have 3 herniated disc on my lower back and one herniated one in my cervical. I been going to pain management Dr for over 7 years and besides the blocks they woul do they woul pump me with 120 pills a month(Percocet 10mg) I never abused them but you become so dependent on those things. On my last refill I went in and said I don’t want anything. They freaked out. What you crazy you going to go through terrible withdrawal. I told them I don’t care it will pass I know I’m not going to die going cold turkey. Long story short I had the worst withdrawal of my life but I got clean and love it. I will never touch any of those pain meds again. That’s the devil

Good to hear, it sounded like you were gonna push it and 5 years is a lot to test.
No way brother it’s 5 tears and something with two bone. It’s actually sound like what buck said Infraspinatus and supraspinatus . Muscle will always come back. Specially mature muscle. I started working out when I was 12 and I’m 53 so that muscle will come back quick. I’m save my bpc157 and tb500 and gh for after the surgery. I did told the dr I was still going to the gym to do legs and cardio and he said it was fine just don’t dare move the shoulder. But I’m wait at least two weeks after surgery to heal a bit

Good for you. That is one of the reasons i don't take pain meds for more then a few days post surgury. Mostly just so i don't have ambition to do anything for a few days after surgury. Really haven't noticed them do a thing for the pain levels. And slowly damaging internal organs so i can feel better didn't add up for me. I still have a bunch of oxy left from my surgeries. A Dr job is to make me feel better. My job is to keep me as healthy as i can. Sometimes those 2 things conflict.

He said I have to be on a sling for 3 months. And you are right he said I have to sleep in a recliner that in a bed the pain would be unbearable. Lucky for me I have a sofa that’s a dual recliner so I guess be sleeping in that for some time. It sucks but I look at it once it’s all heals I can finally use my shoulder and workout without no pain . Bro now I kidd you not just breathing it hurts. I have no choice I have to bite the bullet and go through it. The doctor told me in Spanish you going to be in a lot of fucking pain lol
I've had 3 surgeries on my left shoulder. The first week post op is very painful but you will get used to it and it will gradually get better. It's probably not much worse than what you're already feeling. I slept on the couch for at least a month afterwards, which sucks. The pain was really bad laying flat.
Take the rehab seriously and don't try to get back in the gym too fast.
I now have a detached upper long head biceps tendon in that same arm. Its about 10% weaker than the other arm.

So mri shows I have 5 tears main one that is why I’m in so much pain for 3 months now is a bicep tear where it meets the shoulder.. the other tear must of happened at some time and I paid no attention to it. I did tear one doing 405 in decline years ago with my older son his a Sargent in the army his cyber security for the military.he wa on leave and wanted to train with me and on my 3rd rep I heard a pop and the pain. I still stayed and trains shoulders and arms . I didn’t want to ruin the time with my son. The next day my entire arm was black and blue. But I still kept training and that healed I guess. But it didn’t he said that a complete tear. Lucky for me
He said mri says end are still intact so he can attaché it. So long story in 3 weeks im going in for surgery and his doing 5 tear repairs and something with a bone that is some what f**k too. He said im be in a slin for 3 months no gym at all. I told him im going to the gym and do legs and abs cardio and he said ok with that but I can’t move the shoulder because im rip everything he fixed. So I guess im go trt till I can go back to gym.

He said I was going to be in a lot of f**king pain so I can only imagine. So depressed but at the same time I can’t take this pain anymore and working out half ass too
Hate to hear that P. Shoulder surgery is no laughing matter, and all the drugs in the world won’t make it heal faster. My unsolicited advice is to do your rehab, do your rehab, do your rehab. I cannot stress that enough and where you end up at the end of all this has a bit of uncertainty, but I am certain that you will be better now than you were before. Train around it and train the other shoulder because it sends a positive message to the injured shoulder. Recovery is a long ass time, but you are tough and resilient and smart so you will get through this no worries, just be safe and sane and don’t go nuts in the gym. Easier said than done, I know that from experience . . . take care and be well.

Well there is no reason for you to be in "a lot of fucking pain". Yeh you're gonna have pain. No doubt. But that is why they give you pain meds. I don't like taking them either. But fuck being in pain if you don't have to. Just make sure you are taking laxative no later than day after surgery. I didn't shit for 3-4 days I believe after my surgery. That was driving me crazy.

Na bro I rather be in pain trust me I went through hell getting off them damn opioids. Never again. I’m one of the lucky ones that don’t get Constipation from them never in 7 year use. And I used a shit load every day

Thank you my brother I’ll take your advice word for word thank you so much brother 🙏🏻

Thank you brother I will definitely take it easy and will do my rehab. Actually the doctor had me do rehab for 5 weeks hoping it would heal it but it didn’t work. So he said he has no choice than to do the surgery

Dude thats insane.

I feel your pain since I am 18 weeks post op form a labrum repair.

Like you, I was doing legs, cardio and abs. It was a great way to keep your mental health going.

During my recovery my best friends were, bpc 157, Tb500, hgh, Deca, FIRe shoulder heating pad, and an EMS unit. I quit using ice after the first week. My goal was never speed of recovery but quality of recovery. By focusing on the quality, I was able to be way ahead of the game. All in all I am about 50 ahead of where I should be by focusing on quality and being extremely diligent with heating pad, ems unit and the vitamins.

Just a piece of unsolicited advice and something to look into. The should sling they give you is most likely a giant piece of shit. I was given a Don Joy one and it just sucked. After a week I bought a different one on Amazon that was a millions times more comfortable and it staying in place. The one given to me, the adductor pillow would shift all the time and cause my arm to move. The one I bought on Amazon literally glued my arm to my side so it never moved even an inch. This made the shitty sleep, less shitty.

You are so right man. You want to hear something funny but sad at the same time because it took me that long to notice the difference. When I was on pain meds it wouldn’t help with my back pain. I thought it was but it was just the high from them that makes you think it’s better. But once I got clean from them my herniated disc pain went away 100% I swear to god I’m not kidding one inch. My wife is breathless the things I can do now and have zero pain and I couldn’t do when I was in pain meds. Ain’t that some shit ha

You know how happy you made me to hear this from you. Sometimes the smallest thing we say or do makes such a huge influence on another person. You have no idea the confidence you gave me to face this issue coming my way. My wife said that is one nice good man so thank you my brother 🙏🏻💪

Gotcha brother. Major kudos for getting off that shit. Sadly way too many don't till it's too late. I've never liked pain pills but Ill use them to stay out of pain. But it's easy for me to drop them once the pain is gone.

I can believe what you say. My last MRI showed ever disc from the end on thoracic to my sacroiliac are herniated or bulged. Pretty sure the are some n my mid back as well. 15 years ago a Dr showed me where i was bone on bone in my neck and from the feel/noise i am sure it is worse now. Bulges and herniated discs don't always cause pain, especially if the muscles are strong enough to support the structure. I am pretty stiff in the mornings when the discs are nice and hydrated but once i am up and moving and gravity squeezes some of the water out i am much more flexible. Seems the body sends us pain so we stop doing the dumb stuff that is hurting us. Then pain meds are taken so the body has to up the signal again to tell us to stop doing dumb stuff and then cycle can continue with higher and higher doses. If something gets bad enough i need continuous pain meds i just go and get a surgury to solve the problem. That has worked for me a few times.

That's awesome! How did you know there were tears, bruising, loss of function, etc. Did you try anything before surgery prp or stem cells? I found the same thing with my cancer I was told I'd be completely bed ridden from radiation session 15-33 and 2 weeks after with a feeding tube. I trained every day, poorly but did it, no tube (lost 70 pounds and have kept dropping since desire to compete is gone) and the docs just kept saying "I've never had a patient like you before" I think it's a combo of mindset and high test making us " miraculousl recoveries" it def isn't GH with cancer you can't touch GH not for 5 years of clean PET scans.

Good for you!

With the pain, loss of motion and the arm feeling like it would shoot out the back of my shoulder when benching was my give away. I had separated and dislocated my shoulders when i was 20. I had felt things tear away previously but there was no pain. This was over a 15 year span. So just wasn't sure what happened. The first ortho i went to gave me a quick exam where they tested my strength with internal and external rotation and said nothing was torn as i was to strong. The next ortho examined me about 1 minute and said i needed an MRI. As he dealt with athletes.
I recovered fast from that first surgury and was still natural in those days. I have recovered well on and off gear. I think being active. Along with rehab and stretching and nutrition are the keys for me.
I have done all my own PT. Dr.s tell me they wont even send me to PT as i have enough motivation to recover and that is mostly all PT are good for i find.

Here is what his going to do
View attachment 232232
Looks like he is going to anchor down the rotator cuff tendons which are almost like a band and they suture down the torn areas at the end and sounds like yours are fresh and not whether like an old tear. He plans to snip your proximal biceps from the labrum so it doesn't tug on the superior labrum creating pain, they then anchor it to the bone and it functions just the same. And the distal clavicle excision is like shaving the end of the clavicle down so there is more room in the joint and less compression.

Man you know your stuff. Because I could swear it sounds like what he said. I was just so worried and nervous it would end my bodybuilding life that I was listening but I felt like I was in another room. And every day it hurts more. I still have 20 days to surgery day.

What I don’t understand is I get put down every time they do nerve block on me. And of course when the hospital did my diverticulitis surgery and neither well maybe the hospital did bloods they would do bloods like eod lol. But he needs me to do bloodwork an ekg and x Rey of my chest. I understand bloods for blood clog and so I won’t bleed to death. But why x Rey of chest? I even understand EKG but the x Rey through me off. I’m getting off all aas as of today. I’m only on 300 of test prop npp mast and 100 of drol. I’m just going to do 100 to 125 of trt. No need to be on the cycle if I’m be out of the gym for some good time. Well I’m go and do legs and cardio and AB’s if pain permits. But last thing I want to do is crash while I’m going under lol

Exactly you nailed it. When I get up in the am it hurts but once I’m moving around and shower walk the dog and his big 150lb American bulldog pure muscle I have no pain when I was on all that pain med when I would finish washing my I swear I felt like I was paralyzed. After quitting those stupid pain pill. I swear I wash the car and I have absolutely no pain. The human body is an amazing thing. And these doctors are a bunch off piece of shit. They know this but only care about pushing us those kind of drugs to not only keep us in pain and thinking we need them but to keep getting rich of us. You know a short story the pain Dr I had is so rich his accountant girl was really good friend with me and told me he has a bunch of houses around the world. But just the one in Miami Florida is a 5 million dollar house and he bought it cash. I was like wtf true story

My wife got a good one (UCSF) He designed the parts and installed them. (She is part of a study.) It went flawlessly. 1 year in, she is 100%. Like I said, she super diligent / disciplined in rehab. That was key. And she had 2 bouts of a frozen shoulder prior. Get the best doc you can find, do what he / she says and you will be good to go. Her doc says the biggest, most common mistake is folks not doing rehab and if they do they do they stop too soon thinking it is the best it is going get when in fact there is still room for improvement. Be patient. I am confident you will be fine.
