Sodium Water Retention Question

Hey guys! Have been severely uneducated on sodium and never taken advantage of it have always been low sodium like 2000mg a day. Just learned about it properly and have upped to 6000mg a day. I have got water retention in my legs and ankles, I know to be expected after the big increase. Am full as a house now, cannot believe was not doing this earlier haha. But my question is if I keep sodium high will my body adjust and just start flushing out the excess water from ankles and legs etc? Or do I have to drop it right back again and slowly work it up? Thanks guys!
 
yes, your body will adjust, and normalize to the higher levels (to an extent). How long will that take? Highly individual...no way to know.

Aldosterone will adjust, but you should build up your amounts over time. Doing a big random jump like that is gonna put a lot of stress on your body.
 
Yes it will, but you have to remeber that we are not exectly taking benefits from sodium itselfs, but from proper ration sodium:potasium - so i think keeping potasium at leas twice the amount of sodium giving the best resoults when it comes to performence (pump, fullness, proper blood preasure menagment).
500mg potassium per 10kg of lean bodyweight is a good place to start.

Yea, 2g to 6g is a massive increase proportionally. I'm used to a much higher amount (2g per day sounds like nothing), but I'd still get bloated if I hit up a Chinese buffet and took it even higher, or even if I just dunked way more salt on my regular meals.

For those who already eat high sodium - I have realized over the last year or two that there is benefit to moderating intake when you're using PEDs and eating large volumes of food. Maybe it's obvious, but there's been a trend towards very high salt intake throughout the last decade or so - which is probably a message more useful to normal people and weekend warriors who were still under the impression that salt is "bad for you."

We're already retaining more minerals due to AAS and GH. If you're also eating, say, 80-100g of carbs from rice, 50-60g protein from meat, and 100-200g veggies per meal...if you salt that entire pile of food to your tastes, it's going to be a lot of sodium. Your renal system is adaptive, but your kidneys don't grow along with your muscles. There's no reason (that I'm aware of) that you should be able to salt to taste forever even as your food requirements go up.

Just remeber that you should incorporate a planty of water > this is mostly the reason of the problems in peaople. If you messing up with RAA system, you have to incorporate 3 peace of puzzle water is one of the most important.
 
Is there any benefits to dosing sodium beyond just electrolyte replenishment?

I get the same when I go higher sodium--well up like a balloon, blood pressure goes up, I do fill out nicely though

But generally I try to keep mine low, which is why I'm wondering if there's other benefits beyond just fullness and electrolyte balance

So for 100kg guy u recommend 5g potassium and 2.5g sodium. Also telmisartan included? (Potassium sparing)
 
With your higher sodium intake and your water retention keep drinking water and your body will just keep excreting it. Then lower it slightly to wear your little more comfortable.
