My doc has finally decided that my delayed healing and tissue damage due to cortisone injections is worthy of some pharmaceutical help, so he wrote me a script for Oxandrin. The BS? Went to the pharmacy, my insurance won't cover it, so 60 tablets comes to $1,200.

This is as ridiculous as prescription fish oil. It costs something ridiculous like 10 times more than just the plain fish oil you can buy at GNC.

all i can offer to you is fight it with your insurance. call your doc and let him know it isnt covered, he may be able to help. (if its medically necessary he can help you fight it and have ins pay for it)

also through exp. call around to different pharmacies, you might find it way cheaper the that.

good luck bro

Thanks Railslave, I think I'll start with trying different pharmacies. I know my health insurance is pretty lousy coverage, but I only pay $100 a month for it, so it's not like I'm shelling out much on a monthly basis for it. I just had it in case I got injured or in an accident, and go figure I'd shatter my foot.

You should be able to have it covered if you doctor fills out some paperwork stating that it is needed for non-rejuvination purposes. However if he is prescribing it for any off label purpose you are out of luck.

Your other option is to send the prescription off to one of the compounding pharmacies that the rejuvination clinics use. They could still run you about $6 a pill but that is considerably cheaper the the $20 a pill the pharmacy is trying to charge you.

I don't know anything about that drug but is there a generic you can get? If you do end up having to pay for it that should save you some money. Make sure you ask the pharmacy if they have a generic for that drug.

It's oxandrolone aka anavar.

As far as I know, there is no generic for it in the US. I would just get it from overseas, since I doubt you will be able to get your insurance to pay.

Yeah, I called around yesterday, every pharmacy within driving distance gave me a price around $1000. Insurance won't cover it because it's a "non-approved usage." Oxandrin is on their list of meds that need to be pre-authorized, and they will not authorize it for anything but serious burns. I even had the doc's office call my insurance company. Then I had them run HGH past the insurance, still no dice. I asked about generics as well, and was told there is no generic. I may have to seriously consider acquiring some on my own, but I was kinda hoping I could get insurance to pay for it. :(
