Guys .I'm on my 4th cycle,and have only gained about 7 pounds in 4 cycles. I'm 48 years old been training on and off for 20 years but the last 18 months straight.diet is i'd say between 2000 and 3000 cals.including 1 or 2 protein shakes a day.I know the cals are low.But should'nt i have put on more mass/weight.Currently running 750 sus and 600 deca 8 weeks in started with 40 mg dbol for 4 weeks.Strength is up but nothing else other cycles same story .Whats wrong is it something medical?

Doggcrapp: Mondo I find 9.5 out of 10 times that someone stops gaining its his diet that is the
problem. Eight out of 10 times that same lifter wrongly thinks he is overtraining or his workouts
are off. The other 2 out of 10 times that person thinks his supplements or 'juice' is the problem. I
keep trying to brainwash people SUPPLY AND DEMAND, SUPPLY AND DEMAND--if you can
make a demand (hard enough training) you can meet the supply (abundance of protein grams). I
love when people come to me with this problem of not making gains anymore and they go thru
this intricate workout, supplement, and sauce fix and all i say is "double the serving size on all
your protein drinks and make sure the post workout drink is 100grams at least." Boom! they take
off gaining again. I know you don't know me from adam but trust me on this one. Food (protein) is
your anabolic. Anyone in this forum who is at a true stalemate, I ask you to try 500 grams a day of
protien for 6 months and then come back in here and tell me what you look like. Training is the
engine, food (protein) is the gasoline and juice is the Nitrous oxide system. Mondo i would say hit
2 grams per lb of bodyweight that you want to be=500grams. That could be about 200-250 in
protein drink grams and you can easily eat the rest

Eat a lot more than that. Lol.. And you're liver might be streSded as well.. If the liver is stressed then your muscles aren't gonnagrow.
 
2000cals/day might be enough to maintain if you were a 15 year old girl:D... work on your diet. good luck

i would say since you are trying to gain you need a plan. if you know the calories are low why ask? You have been doing this for 4 cycles so you know that what you are currently doing isn't getting you there. either change your gear, diet, or the workouts. it will most likely be diet. EAT DAMN IT!!!

You shouldn't even be doing any AAS until you have a good foundation in Nutrition. Post your diet (everything in detail) and we can from there. Please posts all your stats, including training program.
 
Normally I dont comment, but this is so relevant

I just went through a similiar feeling in my training. I wasnt gaining. I was eating around 2-3k cals and sometimes 5k. I was convinced that I had reached a point where I could no longer gain weight.

Then I decided to eat 5k calories everyday not matter what. I have gained about 1 pound a week since than. Ignore everyone elses advice how many calories you should eat. there is no magic number that applies to everyone. Just go up up up as much as you can.

For me, I had to stop drinking skim and switch to 2 percent, I also added in more beef and less chicken, I also added a few yolks in with my 10 egg whites. I also added a resees peanut butter cup at night as a reward if I ate all my calories.

So in sum, I think you should up your calories as much as you can and stick with it for a few months and see what happens, You can always cut back if you gain too much, but you will never get those few months back if you dont gain.

Definitely have to tune in and adjust everything bro, I'm 46 and about every 4 weeks I change my training completely, I tweak my calorie intake also, especially my carb intake. Start doing super sets and drop sets, keep your body guessing, I do this on a regular bases and still keep on filling in, and besides is a lot of fun. God bless you bro.

Now, it depends what his goals are. Eat like this and you will become big and fat faster. Put more science/thought behind it and you will gain weight - hopefully more muscle than fat.

I don't think you want to become big and fat at 47 unless that is the look you're going for as it will take you forever to lose all that gat you have gained - in the end won't be worth it...

Yeah! you are absolutely right. My point is just that listening to everyone elses advice to eat MOAR NAO was not as helpful as my personal reflection and investigation into where my calories were coming from. I personally need the higher sat. fat in my diet. The OP may not. As of now I am still at the same bodyfat I was before I increased my cals. Now, that could of course change, but it has worked thus far.
 
I think at our age 45 and older you have to ask yourself do you have it in you to eat this volume of food. I have struggled for years and years trying to reach a extra daily calorie count. To try to put on more lean mass. I swear my body is done with growth. That being said I know damn well it's all in my head and additional calories are needed.

My suggestion is to add 200 to 300 well balanced calories to your current daily count. Go a few weeks. Then review again. I'm not sure about suggesting such a high protein amount. I say add, beans, grains, fruits, veggie,lean meats snacks and some treats. Easy for me to say.

My problem is once all this volume of food comes in I have no hunger at all. I have no desire to have that next big meals. Funny how I can maintain a 200 body on 2000 calories a day. Yet, when I diet for a show I will eat 2500 to 2800 plus and get stupid ripped.

Now, i know i have been away from these boards for a bit(and now i see for good reason) but stressing your liver by eating more......WHAT?!?!

IF YOU DONT EAT YOU WONT GROW... it is that simple.
Now im not trying to me a smartass but if the guy really cared that much about stressing his liver then why would he even be doing any anabolics...
 
Do this.

Keep track of your calories/protein for 1 week and find out what you're averaging per day. I have a feeling you're gonna be pretty surprised how inconsistent your calorie intake is on a day to day basis. From there, add 500 or so calories in the form of protein/carbs/fat/small children. Try this for 2-3 weeks AND MAKE SURE YOU'RE HITTING YOUR CALORIE TARGET EVERYDAY! Then weigh yourself again and see if you gained.

Make adjustment from there.

Rinse and repeat.

Don't want to sound like a dick but...

Have you had a liver panel done lately?

Calories? You need more!!! If you are trying to gain why only 2-3000 calories?

Your probably only at maintenance on that many calories. With the extra hormonal help, I would be shoveling in nutrients. Your body should be primed for protein synthesis!!

Just my humble, amateur opinion!
 
If you have to ask a question like this with a 2k-3k diet, you should not be using AAS....


And you've already run 4 cycles....lol....you're a joke dude, hang it up.
