I would make sure he has researched and has everything in check.

No point lying to him use just make sure he is doing things safe and sensibly.

This makes me think of the talk my buddy had with his son the other day which came to "Dad I am gay and in love"

In todays enviroment most would be okay but this guy is over the top alpha male tough guy,old fashioned and so set in his ways.He is on S.W.A.T. and a power lifter and never shows emotion etc...

I told him "what choice do you have ? this is your son and only child.You accept it or lose him,you don't have to like it,but thats the way it is."
Anyway this post reminded me of him getting this news,lol.

One last funny thing,he told me years ago how they raided this gay bar that was known for drugs,prostitution etc...He was going on and on about how disquisting they gay culture is.... Out of respect I did not remind him of that conversation,lol.

This is an old post, but thought it was pretty cool how you handled it. He obviously thought you two were close enough to openly talk about it. I know I personally consider my father my best friend and biggest role model growing up. I'm sure he just wanted something to establish common ground with, weightlifting is definantely a better lifestyle then everyone else his age doing drugs. I know when I first moved out I missed my father more then anything in the world, years later I still feel the same way! You should just make sure to regularly check in with him and make sure he is doing this AAS the correct way. cheers

I know it's hard but be honest with him and use your knowledge to keep him as safe as possible.
