Stage 3 kidney disease in older person

Since this post her egfr went from 37 to 47 on 6grams of astragalus. We're gonna stay on this amount till November with would be a year before we lower it maybe.

We found out she's retaining some urine in bladder but idk what this means. We have to see a urologist now. Any thoughts on this?
Originally they assumed repeated bladder infections.

Hopefully it keeps climbing to where there's much more stability!

I don't have much to add in term of what to take via supplementation as everyone has covered most of that already. In fact depending on what type of damage is done will depend on whether it can be fixed as well. For instance, in laymens terms, once the filters are blown out by high BP; they aren't going to repair themselves and the key is prevent further damage(by keeping blood pressure under control).

Also, I don't know what her creatinine values were prior to recently, but if there was a recent decline, it could be from the UTI.

One more thing, I recently started using a product called "Kidney Support" from Herbalist & Alchemist. It comes in liquid form and is pricey. My creatinine had been running around 2.4 for the past 2 years(transplant) and had gone up quickly to 3.0 about 10 weeks ago. The next labs I had was about 4 weeks ago and it was down to 2.0. However, I don't know that it had anything to do with the supplement necessary because we also switched anti-rejection meds over this time period to a medication that is much less kidney toxic.

Was wondering if that supplement has helped now that you had some time

There are reports in those medical sites I forget the name but they where using approx 21 grams per day

I still take it religiously. I honestly don't know for sure what role it has played in my health because my situation is continually changing/evolving like a roller coaster ride. My creatinine has remained stable at the same level despite coming off Prednisone completely and I feel from a health standpoint the best I have since transplant(although that is not saying much). However, I just got my latest lab results 2 days ago and my creatinine went up to 2.5 and my protein level and albumin level in my blood were low. But I also had a respiratory virus of some sort and almost didn't do them; so not sure if they are reflective of my current status and would be surprised if they were.

My eGFR was low 60’s. I have been high 90’s low 100’s for about 2 years now thanks to Dante. I used 6 grams/day of vitamin shoppe brand astragalus split into am/pm. For the last year I dropped to 3 grams/day and my eGFR has stayed the same.

I tried that and my pee looks like molasses. When I stop it goes back to normal.

My mom's egfr was at 26,I got her Revive Md's Kidney and her latest egfr is up to 30 in two months She has alot of other ailments but a little improvement for her goes a long way

Most older women are dehydrated. They drink when they’re thirsty.

Tell her to drink water.. lots of water

And ultra sound the kidneys if he thinks she’s in kidney failure

They won’t put anyone on dialysis if your BUN and creatinine are normal.
